"Stefanie it's time to wake up" my mom creaked open the door and shouted in. groaning, I pull myself out from my horizontal position on my mattress. The cold floor numbs my feet as I shuffle to the window and pull the curtains open. The rays of light strike me on the face and sighing I peer at the rows of houses lined up out of my window.

"Shit" I grumble as I watch Ada driving her car, readying to pull into our driveway. Quickly, I scrounge up some clothes. Wiggling, I struggle to pull up my jeans while also sliding on my leather jacket. A hand-me-down from Dad, I always like wearing it on the first day of school for good luck.

Rushing out the door, I flick the lightswitch. What am I forgetting? I wonder in my head. Instively I walk back into my room, shoving my diary into my backpack before I walk down the stairs.

Dad whistled as he flipped pancakes, mom nursed her coffee on the counter, and Ada waited for me, laughing as my Dad decorates her pancake with whip cream.

"So" he says. "Sophomore year at Mystic High, and looking good in that jacket I might add."

"Thanks Dad" I laugh as he winks at me.

Quickly, I grabbed a pancake and stuffed in my mouth as I ran over to hug my mom. Ada now stood by the door, tapping her foot to remind me we were running late.

"I love you stefanie" she spoke as she embraced me. "I love you too" I responded.

As Ada and I linked arms and headed out the door, Mom yelled, "be safe honey!"

I rolled my eyes as Ada laughed and I shouted back, "relax mom, Its Mystic Falls, nothing bad ever happens here."

Little did I know.
