Wicca: things to know
Wicca is a neopagan, earth centered religion that goes by the rede "if it harms none, do as ye will". What does this mean, though? Generally, it means do whatever you want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. do no harm, but take no shit i think means about the same thing.
Wicca is thought to be founded by a retired British soldier by the name of Gerald Gardner (1884-1964). Gardner started an occult community based on a reverence of nature, the practice of magick, and the worship of the female deity (the goddess) along with numerous associated deities (the horned god).
in general, wiccans believe in the goddess, respect nature, and hold both polytheistic* and pantheistic** views. they participate in meditation and rituals throughout the year. rituals throughout the year like the moon cycles, samhain, and the winter solstice.
*polytheistic- relating to or characterized by belief in or worship of more than one god.
**pantheistic- /i found 2 definitions for this so i figured i would include both/ 1. a doctrine which identifies god with the universe, or regards the universe as a manifestation of god. 2. worship that admits or tolerates all the gods
