Kevin took a deep sigh. His paper was nowhere near done, and considering the time left until he has to meet up with her, it won't even be half finished. He took a sip from his glass of coffee, now cold after a few hours of being exposed to the cold air.
"Well, I'll just...do it tomorrow. Yeah, I can manage it. I think."
Putting down his pen, he stood up and stretched. His chair creaking for the first time since he bought it a few months ago. The clock showed 10.17 PM, 13 minutes left until his meet up time.'Damn. I'm almost late!'
Grabbing the closest jacket and his bike keys, he opened the door to his apartment and locked it behind him, putting on his dark shoes frantically while calculating the time it takes to travel from his apartment to their meet up place --the park-- to no avail; he was never the best at math. Though he doubts that this has barely anything to do with math. But he imagines that spending a few more pints of gas is worth it if he can just make it in time without having to dissappoint her and possibly, breaking his promise to her for the umpteenth time. Again. The road was almost empty, except for a few cars going here and there, going at high speeds not caring the traffic light. Not long, the entrance to the park was in sight.
He parked his bike at the side walk, taking into account that at this time of night, probably no one will try to steal it or even care enough to give him a parking ticket.
The park clock showed 10.28, 2 minutes earlier than their promised time. After forgetting to bring his phone with him, he decided to sit at a nearby bench and admire the scenery of something he has gotten used to; except that this time, it's dark.
The park gives an eerie feeling at night; the way the trees sway due to the cold, November air and how only insects and sleeping squirrels accompany him until his meet up time relaxes his mind. His dark hair moving along as the wind blows. Not long, a girl with a wavy, brown hair in a baggy blue long shirt appears in the distance. Her white skirt blows with the wind, and her red heels taps on the stone paved ground, clacking along the way as she made her way towards Kevin, who had his mind wander and didn't realize her presence until she called for him.
"For once, you weren't late, I commend you for that." The girl spoke, her right hand resting on her hip.
Taken aback from his mind wandering, he realizes that his girlfriend had just praised him for the first time in a while.
"Well, if I can't keep my promise, I couldn't call myself your boyfriend, right?" Kevin chuckled.
"Fair enough. How's your paper going?"
"Well," Kevin scratched his head, his eyebrows squinting and his eyes diverted from hers, the girl now curious about his next statement. "I can say that I have made a progress since yesterday."
"You barely wrote a thing did you?" Sighing as the words got out of her mouth.
Kevin let out a desperate chuckle. Nothing gets by this girl without her not noticing.
"Okay. You got me. But, to be fair, I didn't finish anything because I was too busy thinking about you."
The girl blushed, and she light punched her boyfriend, the words 'stupid' and 'idiot' coming out for more than once, and Kevin could only give a laugh at the girl's reaction.
Calming down, the girl produced a small speaker from her purse, and placed it on the bench. "Can you connect your phone to it?"
"Right. About that," the boy stood up, and stretches his body. "I forgot to bring my phone. So, please?"
"God, you're so hopeless." The girl connected her phone to the speaker, and a slow tune started to play. "Now, shall we get started?"
"As you wish, my mademoiselle"As he stood, the girl raised her hand. He bowed in a playful manner, and grabbed her petite hand, warm and soft; his rough, large hand almost covering hers. He placed his hand on her slender hip, her hand on his muscular shoulder. The song started to play, and they both danced along to the tune. His eyes stared at nothing else but his girlfriend, her eyes glistening in the light dimmed park. Their dance was stiff; they've only danced once. But, as the song progressed, they both relaxed, finding the rhythm and the solace they once felt together at that one, calm night.
'Lights down low, look in my eyes.'
Her chest pressing closer into his body as the tune played the chorus, her warmth spreading on his chest, creeping slowly to his whole body. The cold air of the September night seemed to unfaze the two lovebirds.
'We can keep dancing all night'
The night belonged to them, and they knew it. Their moves now in tune with the music, as with their breaths, in sync with each other.
Not long, they were both hugging and feeling each other's warmth, still rocking in small steps. The faint smell of her perfume digging into Kevin's nose.
"Hey, it's getting cold." Kevin stated, breaking the silence that had been going on since the song ended. The girl raised her head, her eyes gazing into her lover's eyes, looking like she's waiting for him to say what she wants to hear.
"What?"
"F-forget it. We shall head back to my place to seek shelter from the cold."
"Your place?" Kevin looks at disbelief. Her parents are always strict about who she invites home. "But what about your par--"
"My parents are away until next week." The girl pressing her head at his chest once more, his chest once again feeling the warmth of his muscular body, his heartbeat beating in his chest; fast and quick, but not long, slowly it calmed.
"Now, shall we continue this when we get to my place?"Kevin nods awkwardly. The thought of spending the night with her without anyone interfering for once was both frightening and exhilarating. Thousands of possible scenarios played in his head. He imagined all the possible things that could happen in that 2 story house of hers.
"Ouch!" A sudden voice brought him back to reality as he saw the girl falling, and caught her in time.
"You okay?" Kevin asked, worriedly. "My heels broke. I'm not wearing heels in the park again!"
"Well, can you walk?" Kevin checked her ankle for any signs of pain.
"I can, I think."
Kevin assessed the situation for a while, and came to a decision.
"Take your speaker. We're going back"
Kevin ended his words l and he princess carried the girl, startling her. He ran towards the gate, the girl's face red from the embarrasment.
"H-hey! What if someone sees us?"
"It's night. No one will." Kevin reassures, his signature smile with white teeth calming the girl.
Not long, they arrived at the gate and he ran towards his bike, the girl still in his arms. They rode to her house, going at high speeds as he ignored the traffic lights. The night belonged to the both of them, he thought. No one will be able to stop tjem. Arriving there, they immediately went into the girl's room. Her door making a lock sound, and a moan was heard from outside of her room.
Their night has only started.
