Here it is, the long-awaited follow-up of my first Cars story! I know this is a few days late, but I hope you enjoy it! If you haven't read the first part (simply called Cars 3 Valentine's Day Short Story) then I would suggest reading it first, or some parts of this might not make sense.

This is Jackson and Cruz's very first date!

Just warning you, there's a lot of fluff and silliness, but this is a Cars fanfic, so of course there is!

And of course,

*Disclaimer: I, unfortunately, do not own any of the characters in this story, this is a fanfiction!! All characters in this story are owned by Pixar.*

Wheel Well Motel.

Even Jackson had to admit the diner was more impressive than he'd anticipated. And that was saying something, especially since it was in the middle of nowhere--What was the town called? Radiator Springs? It had taken forever to find the place, despite how famous it had become.

Wheel Well was rustic, but not in a bad way. The giant wheel it was built around added a uniqueness to it that Jackson was kind of digging. Of course, he'd seen cooler diners.

As he sat parked on the road, staring up at that giant wheel, he had to remember why he was here. He looked down slightly in confusion. Why was he here? He knew the obvious answer. To go on his first date. With Cruz.

He paused and ran that thought through his hood again.

I'm going on a date...with Cruz.

He was here in this tiny run-down town to date his sworn rival. His expression crinkled at the sheer ridiculousness of the situation.

Why? he thought with a small laugh. Was he out of his mind? He was trying to remember exactly how he was persuaded into this. It wasn't Gale this time, surprisingly.

Jackson thought back to earlier that day. The race. She had been acting all strange around him. Then again, when was Cruz not acting strange? Still, he had never seen her so flustered when talking to him. And then after the race, when that crowd of fangirls--He shuddered, wishing to get the humiliating memory out of his hood. And then when she told him how great she thought he was. Well, okay, he was paraphrasing, but that was basically what she said. What happened after that? He remembered being rudely showered with confetti and candy in his trailer...and then...what?

"You have a call from Costume Girl," his internal phone suddenly informed him.

Jackson instinctively snorted and gave a small laugh. He'd forgotten that he had put that as Cruz's contact name. He answered the call, albeit reluctantly.

"Is this Jackson?" the voice on the receiving end asked hesitantly.

Jackson rolled his eyes. "No, it's Lightning McQueen," he replied.

Cruz gave a small gasp from the other end. Then, in an embarrassed tone, she added, "Ha ha, funny. Hi, Jackson."

Jackson gave a sigh of boredom. "Hello, Cruz."

"Are you here yet?" she asked. "It's getting dark, and-"

Jackson cut her off with a laugh. "What, you think I'm gonna get eaten by coyotes on my way up? Don't worry, I'm almost there. I can see it from here."

Cruz paused on the other end. "Okay," she finally said. "I guess I'll see you in a few?"

"Yeah," Jackson replied. "Be there in a minute. Later."
