The Black Thread Of Fate

My heart started beating faster and faster. I didn't know what a Black Thread meant. I never saw one before. I keep my cool and then decide to drop everyone else before Alana.

"Next?" I asked, hoping Alana wouldn't volunteer.

"Darline was the only one who had to go home early. Unless what's-his-face has to go home early," Mason replied.

"I have a name, you know," Fabian shot back.

"How about we head towards the main city and take pictures on the bulidings?" Alana threw out.

"That sounds good to me," I said, making a turn towards the main part of the city. "Any objections?"

Not a sound was made.

"Good."

I drove through the freeway that was practically empty.

"What time is it?" I asked, wondering why there wasn't many other cars on the road.

"It's roughly midnight," Alfie said.

"12:02," Alana corrected.

"Hey Evan, are you still alive back there?" Mason asked in a mocking tone.

"ha ha ha, very funny. I'm still alive and still against you sitting on that window," he said.

"How ya holding up, Fabian?" I asked.

"Fine actually," he said.

Mason rose the window and thus, lifting herself higher as if wanting to touch the night stars.

I still have the nagging feeling that Alana's thread was black. Alana plays her newest playlist that she created on the trip to The Park today, called "The Strings Of Fate". It was pretty awesome playlist as far as I was concerned but the name stuck to my head.

We made it to the main square of the city. I park my car and put the money into the meter.

"We have about 4 hours to kill; let's go!" I said.

It was chilly and only then was I grateful for my outfit choice today. We walked down and we stopped. Alana had to take the lead on this trip since she was the only one that visited these underground places.

She crosses the street over the Ferris Wheel and keeps going. We past the ticket stand for it and we kept going.

"Most people ignore this small center because the Ferris Wheel is right there. They just need to buy their ticket and go," Alana explained.

I was surprised to see this little corner. It was vintage and small but cute. There were tiny local shops and restaurants that I've never heard of or seen. We stopped at the middle.

"This is where you guys can venture here. If you want to come with me then follow but if you don't then go off and we'll meet back here in a few hours," Alana said.

Alana went off with Alfie, Mason and of course, Evan to explore. Fabian and I were left.

"I guess we go," Fabian motioned.

His facial features were highlighted here. It was like that moment at the fireplace. I looked into his eyes and nodded. I didn't care to know how I looked in his eyes because it would kill the moment. Time and space seemed to stop. We didn't move. I finally looked away and down on my shoes.

This is bad, Ash. Very bad...

I noticed the voice in my head but I ignored it. I was still looking down as I started to walk. I ran into Fabian.

Very smooth, Ash.

I, still looking down- as if it I didn't learn the first time-, continued to walk. I could tell my face was red of embarrassment. I could hear Fabian releasing a sound that wasn't a laugh but if a smirk had a sound, it'd be that.
