As she boarded the city bus headed toward the slums, Y/n was still thinking about how being at school has become preferable to being at home. She'd never knew that there were people out there that could her happy and even shared the same interests, not to mention they're five cute boys. She walked to the back of the bus and sat down in an empty seat, putting on her headphones and looking out the window. She started to blast "She Looks So Perfect" by 5SOS. No one understands the desire she has for that kind of music. This, yet again, is something that separates Y/n from her school's population. Most people have supportive parents that want their child to succeed but Y/n's parents are different. Y/n was conceived after her druggie of a mother had slept around the entire town so Y/n never knew who her father was. Unfortunately, she knew who her mother was. Her mother who is most likely blackout drunk on the sofa with Sex and the City playing in the background. Y/n was confident that watching that show was the only thing that woman had done right. Y/n was hoping this would be true because then she would be able to finish her homework and her new poem about Mr. Malik and her strange feelings.

The wheels on the bus become still as the driver stops at Y/n's stop. She quickly gathers her bag and poetry notebook and walks off the bus. She slowly wonders home trying to prolong the time she has to spend with her mother. Y/n was relieved to see that her hope became reality when she saw her drunken mother laying on the sofa. Y/n heads to her room without acknowledgement from her mother.

After two hours of Y/n being left alone in her room she had finished her homework and continued her poem. Y/n couldn't believe how much emotion she could put in her poem. She felt excitement from writing her thoughts down to be read later. Then a thought came to her, You should talk to Mr. Tomlinson about poetry. When this thought rang in her head, Y/n felt a sudden rush of embarrassment. Trying to hide her feelings, Y/n looked back down to her notebook to finish her poem when she was interrupted by a loud shout. "Y/n come down here I'm hungry and want dinner!" Her mother's shout ringing in her ears Y/n quickly hurried downstairs to the kitchen to make dinner. Y/n normally made dinner so she was a good cook but today she was so exhausted she simply made some pasta. Y/n's mother stumbled into the kitchen while heading straight for the meal. She left as quickly as she came without talking or even looking at Y/n. Y/n had learned over the years to leave her mother alone whenever she is delusional and that it's better to just keep her head down in these situations. After eating her dinner, Y/n looked at the time and saw that it was getting late and decided to go to bed. There in her bed she layed thinking about the mysterious men she had met the following day.
