February is black history month. For my writing I have chosen Rosa parks. In this writing report I am going to be telling you Rosa Parks.
Rosa Parks was born February 4 1913 in Alabama. In 1943 Rosa Parks started working for the NAACP. At the NAACP Rosa helped investigate crimes against African Americans.
In the year 1955 on December 1st Rosa refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger. After refusing to give up her seat Rosa was sent to jail and given a fine for breaking the law. Rosa's actions lead to the 13 month Montgomery boycott to stop African Americans from being treated badly. This lead to the start of the Montgomery Improvement Association which was headed by Dr. Martin Luther King jr.
Rosa Parks is a women who will never be forgotten for her bravery and standing up for civil rights. Rosa Parks died at the age of 92 on October 24 2005. Her body was then flown to Washington and now lies in honour in the Capitol Rotunda. She is the first women and the second African American to receive the honour usually reserved for presidents, soldiers and politicians. That is the story of Rosa Parks.
