(Eliza POV)
BEEP BEEP BEEP. My devilish alarm sounded for the fourth time that morning, it was now 6:45 and I had to be at the office by 7, and still had a 20 minute drive. Ugh, I've got to stop being hitting snooze every time it blasted through the room. I flung myself out of bed and dashed around my bedroom for an outfit to wear for the day, tossing together a simple combination of a pair of jeans and a burgundy blouse with a black cardigan to go overtop. I ran out the door grabbing my keys and name tag on the way past my kitchen. Bob and weaving through traffic, I arrived just at time to the office, dashing through the door.
I'm lucky enough to have my best friend working as a tech with me, Grace. "Hey Grace, how was your weekend?"
"It went well, you'll have to join us next weekend to go out and hit down town"
I tossed back a quick reply as I scrambled on my way through the doors to the back room.
"I'm not sure, you know I'm not really the out going type, but sure, I'll consider it"
I'm just ready to get started with the day and start seeing all of my patients. So far I knew I had a list of Mr. Cooper bring in his love-able Labrador Molly, she's always been my favorite to see. I also had Miss. Trace bringing in her border-collie, Jack. I went to the lobby and called back Mr.Cooper, and said hello to Molly.
"So, are we just here for a routine check up?"
"Yes we are."
I ran through her check up and confirmed that everything with her was perfect, and made sure to give her treats on her way out.
Throughout the day I seen numerous other patients and by 6pm, I was just completely ready to clock out and go home. The sun was just going down outside and Grace had already punched out and left about 15 minutes ago. I just had a few extra sheets of paper work to finish, and then I was on my way out. In dead silence I hear the door to the practice slam open, sending me flying up in my seat, terrified. A deep male voice is shouting out.
" Is anyone here? I need someone to help, please!" I could hear the urgent plea in his voice, startling me to my core.
