The Trip of A Lifetime

The Flight: Aimee's POV

So this is a bit of a fluffy short story I wrote for EatAllThePie a while ago, based off of a plan we both have once we graduate school! Hope you guys enjoy ^_^

"Pat, hurry up!" I yell as I throw clothing into my suitcase. "We're going to miss the plane!"

Pat and I have been together for just over two years now, and have finally decided to go to Europe, as we had first planned halfway through year 11. Over the next two weeks we will be visiting France, England, Italy and Greece, where we will be meeting up with Cassie for the trip home. I'm so excited about this trip with him, but we will actually have to get to the airport in time first!

I finish packing my suitcase and haul it out to the car, where Pat is standing, waiting to head off. "How did you pack so fast?" I say, astonished that he was able to pack so quickly. "I've had practice in the past. Ready to go?"

I nod in agreement and jump into the passenger seat of the car, belting myself in as we take off towards the airport. "Got any plans for the trip?" I ask, playing Jason Mraz' newest album. "Or are we just winging it?"

"We can go and see all of the major landmarks, but apart from that I haven't got anything planned." Pat replies, smiling as our song comes on. What did you have in mind; anything?"

"I wanted to go and see the Eiffel Tower, but other than that, I don't have any ideas."

"We made it!" I say, flopping down into one of the couches with a chocolate muffin in one hand and a bag in the other.

"I thought you were gonna make us late!" I look over at Pat and grin, gently kicking him under the coffee table.

"Hey, would you have cared if we were late?" He challenges.

"Of course!" I tease. "I wasn't going to let you make me late on my trip to Europe! I would have left without you if I had to!"

"Hey!" I grin and give him a kiss on the cheek, curling up next to him with my muffin.

"You know I wouldn't leave without you. I would never go on this trip alone; we've been planning this for years!"

I look up in time to receive a kiss on the forehead, and giggle a little as he misses and gets my lips instead. "Still feel like a dream?" I ask lazily.

"No," he replies, stroking my hair a little. "But if it is a dream, I never want to wake up."

I sigh and close my eyes, listening to his heartbeat and struggling to stay awake. I never know how to reply when he says that, although he's been telling me the same thing for a long time. Two years later and I'm still not used to how sweet he is, although I would never trade it in for the world. All too soon I'm forced out of my reverie by the voice-over calling for the "10:30am plane to France", and we make our way over to the boarding gate, where we get our passports stamped and make our way to our seats.

"Did you want the aisle or the window seat?" I ask, shoving my bags into the overhead compartment and moving over for other passengers.

"I don't care, as long as I get to sit with you."

I slide into window seat and wait for Pat to sit down, resting my head once again on his shoulder.

"You're so comfy..." I say, beginning to nod off. "I'll probably end up falling asleep on you during the flight from Singapore to Paris,"

"No problem," He says, stroking my hair gently. "You're so cute when you're asleep."

I grin and turn my eyes back to the screen, where my favourite movie, the Hunger Games, is playing. "I'm going to watch movies for a while, ok?"

"No problem," he replies. "let me know if you need to get out."
