10 years.

10 years since it happened.

Sliver hasn't been the same since that day. The day her parents were murdered right in front of her 6 year old eyes, she remembered that night. She was getting out of bed and walking down the long, dark hallway to her parents room due to a nightmare. She opened the door and saw someone, they had a mask on so she couldn't tell who, finishing off the murder of her beloved mother and father. She remembered the smell of the blood. She remembered the color and remembered how her hot tears rolled down her light, blushing cheeks.

But the one thing she could never forget was when the person turned to her with a sickening grin that made her blood turn to ice, as they walked up to her and wiped the tears off her pale cheeks with a bloody hand and spoke in a voice so soft but husk, "Don't worry little one, you'll see me again." They walked to the window and looked at the night sky, jumping out and disappearing. The only thing left was a Blood Red Rose, glowing in the moonlight.

Sliver had changed so much since then. Then she was the happiest child ever and always smiled, her hair was long then and her eyes sparkled with hope and joy, she had a bright future ahead of her...if things turned out better. Now she looked and acted so different. She cut her long beautiful hair and her eyes dulled from being a beautiful mix a bright red and a tad of brown to just pale red eyes.

She was an orphan since then. No one wanted an emotionless 'doll'- as they said. But one day...everything changed....for the better....or the worse...

So, Silver was sitting in her room on her phone listening to the stuck up orphans in the other rooms talking about how they got their hair done or got the new coolest clothes. "Ugh...they look like dressed up rats" she said in her head. Then her room door opened, making the young 16 year old sit up in her bed.

A young woman stood there, around 24 years of age and smelt like sugar and flowers. That was Miss Grace and she was the only woman that works here and didn't care that Silver didn't show any emotions. She was the only one she trusted, and the only one who understood.

She sat next to her and smiled softly, "Hey Sil, I have some great news."

Silver stared blankly, "Great news? I don't think 'great' is a way to describe 'news' but if ya'know it's great then tell me. I'm all ears."

Miss. Grace nodded, then started, "well, it's been 10 years since you had a real family and recently my boyfriend i are getting married and we decided" she paused and held out a filled adoption form "That we'll adopt you! You'll be my daughter, and you'll have an older brother!"

Silver was stunned, a family? Now? She finally spoke with the fake smile that made Grace happy, "Yay! I finally got a mom again!" she cheered fakely. It's not that she hated being happy, it's that she couldn't. Not after that day. But now she was a Grace, she was Silver Jenna Grace. But what she didn't know was that this event started a chain of pain, despair and fear.
