Chapter 1

Cooper sighed before giving my hand a slight squeeze "Everything's going to be alright,look we're leaving to New York tomorrow so just try to make it through today okay?". I gave him a small smile before nodding.

"Good now get to school before your late"My 14 year old brother said. I sighed before picking up my bookbag,said a small bye and left.

I'm Riley Evans. I'm 12 years old and the schools nerd. Everyone knows who I am just because I get bullied often. I really wish my brother was in my school so that he could protect me. 'But no god just had to put him in a different school' I thought as I walked down the sidewalk that the sun was shining on. I honestly can't wait till the day ends so I can leave already.

As I kept walking I saw the view of my school and slowly stopped. Should I go in? Maybe I should skip. No Riley! That goes on your permanent record and I have never skipped or been late to class. But it's my last day so maybe it doesn't matter. Cooper wouldn't care....right? But I have to take my test in history! I groaned and started walking to the front doors of the school. Stupid History....

"Riley!"

Seriously?

I slowly turned around and saw my bullies smirking at me.

I gulped. They knew,they knew that I'm leaving tomorrow. They're probably going to beat the living hell out of me now,great.

"You know I'm going to miss my little punching bag" A voice said snapping me out of my thoughts and seeing Chloe infront of me. Don't speak Riley! Maybe she'll leave me alone...

"Don't ignore me sweetie we both know you heard me loud and clear" Chloe said in my face. I gulped before I tried to say something but refused. My face was red in embarrassment and I looked down only to get slapped in face. "It's rude to not look at someone who is talking to you. Oh sorry you don't know that because your parents didn't give a crap about you and decided to leave you and your brother. No wonder you have no manners." She spitted out. I could already feel the tears welling up in my eyes.

My parents left Cooper and I when I was 9 and he was 11. They left one night and never came back. Cooper realized it weeks before I did and put himself in charge of taking care of me. He called my Aunt Jen and decided she would take care of us only until Cooper could get a job. She will be taking care of us until he is 16. And now she wants to take us to New York to start fresh for a few years.

"Aww I'm making the nerd cry!" Chloe gushed out in enjoyment. What am I to her? A clown? Her 12 o'clock entertainment?

"Leave me alone" I said right after a tear slipped out.

"Excuse me?"

"I said Leave.Me.Alone" And that my friends is how to get punched by your bully. I fell face flat on the solid hard floor knowing blood was already gushing out. Cynthia (Chloe's so-called-slave) decided to pull my hair as hard as she can. "I'm sorry what did you say?" Chloe said in an innocent voice pretending she didn't hear me.

'N-Nothing" I was turned around by Cynthia before getting kicked in the stomach repeatly by the girls. Their boyfriends? They just watched. To be honest they barely did anything. Well except Xander. He punched me and kicked me before. Tyler and Dylan are probably the only ones I like the most. Even though I would appreciate if they stopped them or something. After the kicking someone turned my around so I was facing them. Chloe threw her fist back before launching to punch. But before she did,we heard-

"GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY SISTER!"

Cooper. Chloe stopped her fist right infront of my face obviously hearing my brother. He came like freaking lightening and soon enough Chloe was on the floor. No he didn't punch her. He just pushed her. He cupped my face before asking-

"Are you okay?". I quickly nodded hoping to leave as quick as possible.

"I-I'm fine,can we just leave?" I begged. He nodded and grabbed my bookbag for me before shooting a glare at the girls and their boyfriends who had their jaws open. Cooper,seeing the boys,pulled me closer not wanting me to be close to any boys. After getting permission from the office to leave early we walked to the bus stop.

"Are you sure your okay?"

"I'm fine"

"Stop Riley! Your aren't okay,you get bullied everyday and I knew! But you never said anything about getting beat up. You should of told m-"

"You wouldn't be able to do anything ab-"

"I could of protected you! I could of made sure those bastards wouldn't lay a finger on you! I could of-"

"Cooper I don't really want to argue about what just happened. I just want to go to New York and start over,okay? I'm fine,I only have a couple of bruises. Nothing permanent. Ok?" I said. He just looked at me thinking. Was he arguing with himself?

"Okay fine. But Riley please tell me the next time someone is bothering you. I can't be in peace if my sister isn't. Your the only family I have besides Aunt Jen and If something bad happens to you...I don't know what I'll do" he says with tears welling up in his eyes. My brother is tearing up? My brother never tears up. And that's a fact.

I stood up proud,trying to make him laugh atleast "I,Riley Evans,promise that I will tell my brother,Cooper Evans,the next time I am being bothered by any person on the so called planet called Earth."

Cooper smiled before chucking.

I gasped "Your smiling!". He rolled his eyes playfully before saying "Ya well don't get use to it." I giggled.
