"Toss me a grenade!" Someone said through the pouring rain, within the trench.
I could hear where they were, but I couldn't quite see them, I could just barely recognize the shape of one of my fellow soldiers. I unclipped a grenade from my belt and tossed it over to him. He caught it, then immediately pulled the clip and threw up over and out of the trench from which we were hiding in.
We hoped and prayed to god that these things didn't come any closer to this trench, ensnaring is with their robotic tentacle arms.
A couple of us peeled up over the edge of the trench, but it was dead of night and storming outside, so we couldn't see anything. Nothing, we couldn't even see those robotic devils.
Just then, the grenade detonated with a loud BANG, just over 7 meters away.
It lit up the view for just a second, sure enough, it detonated right underneath one of those giant devils. The explosion rocked the thing heavily, it looked like a drunkard trying to dance as it struggled for balance on its long metal legs. Eventually, I suppose it gave up because it fell over with a loud metallic clanging. It didn't even try to stand back up. Cheering could be heard throughout the viewing soldiers, whoever threw this grenade just took down one of the machines with just a single explosion. Not an easy accomplishment.
The machines were usually tough, almost nye impervious to anything we threw at it. Other times you could simply push it over it seemed. Each machine was different. Sometimes you can blow it up with just one man, other times it'd take a whole platoon to take one down. Cheering soon stopped as we heard a single loud mechanical stomp. You could almost hear the whirring and clicking of its foot as it stamped on the ground, splashing mud every where and into the trench. I could only just barely see the giant foot, unmistakable of a Titan-class Machine.. these ones were barely prevalent, but they were huge, easily 50 meters high.
Then there was the sound of it spinning its- it's weapon.. the weapon that looks like the thing shot a green sun at us.. we, or at least I looked up to see the two green cannons charging up their shot. Lightning flashed behind it, as if the weather was now taunting us, saying "you're going to die here tonight, right now.".I think, if that's what the weather was trying to say,
Then the weather was right...
