It was Saturday morning and I was planning on spending the whole day in my bed but obviously my mom had other ideas. She came barging up the stairs and into my room yelling “Rosalie Ann Taylor! Get out of bed! It’s eleven in the morning and you’re still sleeping. If I didn’t know any better I would’ve thought you were out partying last night.”

But my mom didn’t know any better, because I was out partying last night. Words could not express how tired I was. Although I didn’t get drunk, I stayed there pretty late – probably till it was four in the morning.

Let me explain so you understand this better. Last night my best friend, Juliet had the bright idea of us sneaking out at about midnight to go to this party some guy from our school called Tyler was throwing. At school, he was known for throwing the craziest parties. And his parents weren’t usually around that often so he threw them regularly. This party was definitely one of his craziest ones.

Me, being the smart person I am decided not to get drunk last night. And I was glad I didn’t. My mom could tell a hangover when she saw one. And frankly, I didn’t feel like nursing a hangover this morning and my mom’s yelling probably wouldn’t have helped.

It was then that I realized my mom was standing at the foot of my bed yelling at me to get up.

I groaned and put the pillow over my head and told her “Mom! Can’t you just let me sleep, it’s not like I have school or anything today!”

“Rosalie!” she scolded me, “Get your butt out of bed! You can’t just lie around sleeping all day. And anyways I need you to pick up a few groceries for me.”

“Can’t you get James to do it?” I pouted.

To those of you who don’t know James, he is my very annoying older brother. And of course speak of the devil and he shall appear.

“Nope, I’ve got football practice so you have to do it.” He stuck his tongue out at me.

Yes, my brother is very immature, I know.

He's a seventeen year old with a brain of a four year old. I don’t know how that’s possible but it is.

“Come on, Rosie. Please baby, just go to the grocery store, pick up my groceries then come back home. And you can call Juliet to come over when you get back. I’ll even give you some money to go shopping. Please, baby.” My mom pleaded.

And of course my mom being my mom wouldn’t take no for an answer. Even if I told her I wouldn’t go. She’d just make me drag my ass to the grocery store. And since I wasn’t in the mood for arguing, I just got up and got dressed in the first clothes I could find and let my long hair hang loosely around my shoulders.

I didn’t bother telling my mom that Juliet wouldn’t be coming around anytime soon. I knew for a fact that she was drunk off her ass and probably had the hangover from hell and would be waking up at five in the afternoon.

So as I was sitting there in my car singing along to the radio, I thought that it was just any other normal day.

But what I didn’t know was that that day was going to change my life forever.
