Hunter's Point of View
It's a Thursday night and I decided to hit a local restaurant to grab some food and a drink or two after a busy day at the studio.
I went inside and sat the bar of the restaurant, quickly looking over the menu before the bartender took my order of a beer.
"Thank you." I said politely after the bartender put the glass down in front of me.
I took a sip and set it down. As I looked around the room, I noticed a girl across from me, sitting at a booth for two, but clearly dining by herself. I couldn't tell if it was by choice, but she didn't seem all that thrilled.
A good fifteen minutes passed and I knew things weren't adding up when every time I glanced over at her, she was checking the tune on her phone.
She's beautiful. How can a girl like that be all alone. It was obvious that she was dressed to impress. Then it clicked. I had to help her.
As I approached the table, I heard the waiter say, "Is the lucky guy on his way?"
She tripped over her words, "I — I don't know ..."
"I'm here! I'm so sorry I'm late. It will never happen again, I swear." I said quickly as I slid into the booth, now looking at the beautiful blonde from the across the table.
She looked at me, clearly startled. "Who...?"
"Just go with it." I whispered.
She took a long sip of her wine. "I'll give you two a moment." The waiter smirked as she put her glass back on the table.
"Yeah, thanks." She said.
"Hey, I'm Hunter." I said, finally taking a minute to introduce myself.
"Do I know you? Should I?" She questioned.
"No, you don't know me. And I don't know you. But I couldn't help but notice you were here all alone."
"So you were watching me?"
"I'm not a creep. I swear."
"Only creeps say that." She said.
"You look beautiful. And I can't let you sit here all alone. Whoever the guy was who left you hanging is heartless."
She sighed. "So you feel bad for me?"
"No." I said. "What guy wouldn't want to hang out with a pretty girl like you? If that one won't, I will." I smiled.
"Look, that's very sweet. Really. But I'm used to this whole being left thing. And I honestly didn't even want to come on this date or whatever it was tonight anyway."
Kaylee's Point of View
I wasn't sure what to think of Hunter. I mean, what guy just walks up to a stranger, sits down, and pretends to be her date?
This brought the whole being stood up thing to a new level.
"Well, since we're both here now, is it okay if we just order and eat together?"
His smile was genuine. Unlike anything I was used too.
"Sure." I spoke softly, "Why not."
"So who was the crazy guy who stood you up?" He asked.
"Not worth the mention. Again, this isn't is my first time being blown off by men. So It's starting to become normal." I said easily.
"I'm sorry." He said.
