Death Waits in the Dark

Dead Airplane

Sticking the rest of my dinner into the fridge, I was left alone, in the apartment again. Nora got called off to some case. Being her little sister sucked sometimes because I was usually the one being left alone all the time. Although, she was always sure to tell me of her gross cases. Hearing of airplane that went from alerts and almost crashing, to just plainly landed, and silent... dead in fact.

Turning on the TV, I sit down in front of it and tuned to the news channel just to get some background noise. Grabbing my laptop, I continue my essay that was due at the end of the week. For some reason, I felt distracted... probably because I was worried for Nora, and this suspicious dead airplane. You don't hear that like... ever. Lose contact, then just see it on the air strip, landed, and cold. Shaking my head, I refocus on the essay and my fingers hover over the keyboard. Thinking, I try to get my fingers to work and get words typed up on the screen but nothing happened. Groaning, I set the laptop on the coffee table and grabbed my phone. 

Me: I can't think straight knowing you are possibly in danger, are you ok?

*Sent at 8:43 p.m*

Message from Big Sis at 9:12 pm

Nora: Yeah, everything is fine... just some weird circumstances going on and possible investigation, will be home late. 

I read her message and sighed, but knew it was the normal thing around here. Looking up at the ceiling, I closed my eyes and my mind went blank as I followed the darkness. 

A Few Hours Later

Waking up, and glancing around, the house was still silent and the place was dark. Reaching for my phone, it wasn't anywhere to be found. Rubbing my eyes, I look down on the floor and found it laying there. Grabbing it, I see multiple text messages from Nora, and several missed calls. Swiping over, I called her back. 

The phone picks up, 

Me: "Hey, just woke up... Why are you not home? " 

Nora:  "There is something going on, Eph and I discovered something and it's not good... I'm stuck in the lab, but I need you to lock the doors and stay inside till I get home."

Me: "Nora, you're scaring me. Come home now."

In the background, I could here Eph talking, telling my sister to go home. 

Nora: "Eph, I'm not leaving... This could be huge."

Eph: "And you have a sister who is scared right now, go home Nora." 

Nora: "*Sighs* Alright, I'll be home shortly."

I hang up and do as she says, lock the doors and stayed inside. For awhile, I rocked on the couch and held my phone close to me, in case Nora called again. Soon, there was a knock at the door and getting up to look, I saw Nora... Opening it quickly, she hurried in and I hugged her. 

"Seriously sis, what is going on..?!"

Looking at me dead in the eye, she sighed, "I wish I knew."

AN: Short and Sweet, I know... but the next chapter will be longer and little bit better. I rather not go by episode, by episode... but do my own take on it a little, but keep the original content. Anyways, thank you for reading and stick around for the next chapter!
