What are friends for

Just as I got into my apartment the doorbell rang. We just returned from the shooting and the shower was the only thing I could think of, but someone had decided to pay me visit. "Hey, I thought I might stop by. I had a feeling you'd appreciate ice-cream." said Xiao Lu when I opened the door. Seems like my plans for shower and then sleep changed. 

I silently invited him in and closed the door. "Okay, now tell me. What happened?" Xiao Lu asked me after we sat on my couch. Somehow he seemed to sense my mood. What kind of sorcery is this? 

"He told me to drop my mask and to show them my feelings."

"And he's right. You've been suppressing your emotions for so long, that's not healthy."

"But-"

"Look, Cherry, from what I can see they really care about you. You just need to let them in. I think it'll help you find your closure and truly move on with your life."

"But Lu, this isn't only about Em. You know how I was back then, I was awful! I don't want them to think of me differently because of how I acted in the past. I care for them too much to lose them over my past...." I almost whispered.

"I think you're underestimating them. I'm sure they'll overlook your mistakes if you explain you reasons." I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, preparing for what I was about to say next.

"I met Tomi when I visited home for a while."

"You did?" He looked at me with widened eyes.

"Yeah." I nodded.

"What did he say to you?"

"Actually, basically nothing. We greeted each other and when I told him about me leaving for here he seemed a bit disappointed, but that's all."

"However?" he urged me on. Dammit. He knows me too well.

"However he wrote me a few days ago. About how they miss me at home and how I should think about mom and reconsider my decision on not staying in Slovakia."

"Wow. Talk about different." Xiao Lu pointed out. I just nodded.

"So, what did you write him back?"

"I have yet to write back." at that Xiao Lu looked at me disapprovingly.

"You should do that soon." he advised.

"Yeah, I know."

"Well I get him, at least to some extent." 

"What do you mean, Lu?" I asked him.

"Well, your mom is all alone now that you're here, but the fact that he's in love with you and your sister did try to set you two up makes his attempt to change your mind seem quite selfish. Also the fact that he's acting as if nothing happened is a bit weird." he thought for  a while and then added "But that's only my opinion."

Flashback 1

"Why don't you just give him a chance?"

"Em, there's a whole Atlantic ocean separating us. How do you imagine I give him a chance?"

"Well, for instance, there's a whole Pacific ocean separating the two of us too and we communicate just fine."

"Yeah, but that's because you're my sister and I already love you. You're not trying to become my boyfriend! Besides I don't plan on returning home anytime soon and I don't really like the idea of a long distance relationship. I like skin-ship, thank you very much."
