Tamara's POV
I sighed as I looked at the long road ahead of us. It seemed to go on forever. I glanced back at Call. He wore a determined expression on his face. This whole situation must be hard on him.
The trees leaned forebodingly over us. I kept looking around, expecting someone (or something) to jump out. I felt a yawn escape my lips. We'd been walking for hours. My legs ached and I struggled to keep my eyes open.
Aaron turned to look at me. He then switched his attention to Call. "Hey, how much longer till we arrive at the farm?"
Havoc bounded along next to Call. Call noticed this and bent down to ruffle his fur. "About... four hours, I think."
Jasper groaned.
“I think I heard something,” I said, glancing nervously around.
“I-I’m sure it’s nothing,” Jasper said.
Out of the corner of my eye, I thought I caught a glimpse of movement. I spun around. Suddenly I was face to face with a boy not much shorter than me.
He had slightly messy black hair, and sunken black eyes that looked like fractured glass that was trying to put itself back together. He was deathly pale, and for a moment his form seemed faded. He wore a leather jacket that hung loosely in places due to his thin frame. His silver skull ring glinted as he reached for the sword sheathed at his waist. An older girl reached out to grab his wrist. I hadn’t noticed her standing behind him. “Nico, don’t! You don’t know they’re dangerous!” she exclaimed. Her black braid swung through the air.
A second girl, her gray eyes piercing the darkness as she surveyed us. “Nico, Reyna’s right. I think- I think they might be in danger.”
