For those of you who are always outraged that your favorite animated film does not win an Oscar, I have an answer for you!
It just came out that many of the Academy voters do not even bother to watch the animated films that are nominated for Oscars! They just check the Disney box and continue on with their day.
This has left me, and many other animation fans outraged. It also offers a really good explanation as to why Disney ALWAYS wins.
Look, we get it. There are many Disney films that deserve Oscars, but the animation titan has won an Oscar for the past 6 years in a row. Out of the last 11 Academy awards, Disney has won 10 Oscars.
This year, two of the films up for an Oscar, are Disney's The Incredibles 2, and Sony's Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. Many hope that the Academy will treat animation films with just as much respect as they give the live action films. It is high time that wonderful artworks are given recognition.
I loved both films, however honestly speaking, the Spiderman blew me away. It was fabulously written, beautifully drawn, and had an amazing cast and soundtrack. Those are all categories for an Academy Award.
The Incredibles 2 played on childhood charm. While it was a cute movie, it would not have been as successful if the first Incredibles film didn't pave the way for it.
