I woke up to my foster care lady,Shara *pronunciation: Shh-Air-Uh* walking in the room and telling us to get up.
Shara:Get up!!! Big day!! You might be adopted!!!
She was obviously talking to just me and Tate because she was standing in our little section. Since a lot of us share a room,it is split into sections and there is 2 people in each section. I quickly sit up and look at the clock on the wall. 8:30am. Shara stops and goes downstairs because she sees that at least one of us is awake. I get up and go over to Tate,who is still laying in her bed,not even awake. I sit down on her bed and try to wake her up.
Lilly:Tate!!!! Wake up,we might be getting adopted
I lower my voice after I realize how loud I was at first. She immediately lifts her head up and looks at me. We bought go and find our nicest clothes,which weren't that nice. I straighten my hair and brush my teeth. We just barely finish getting ready when I hear Shara,she is walking up the steps.
Shara:Lilly,Tate,someone is here to possibly adopt you
Lilly:ok,thank you Ms. Shara
She goes downstairs and then just a minute later we go down too. We sit on a small uncomfortable bench against the wall while we wait for Ms. Shara to get done talking with whoever is here.
Shara:girls,come here
We both quickly get up and walk to the room right next door and see Shara and a tall blonde man.
Shara:please have a seat
She says pointing to the chairs at the table that are empty and across from them. I tale the seat across from the man and Tate sits across from Shara.
Shara:so,girls,go ahead and introduce yourselves. Tell Mr. Paul your full name and age
Lilly:I-I um,I'm Lilly Rene Evers,I'm 15 years old
Tate:I'm Tate Mcdermitt and I'm 16 years old
Mr.Paul:cool,nice to meet you,I'm Logan Paul
Both:hi
Shara:Logan,have you made a decision?
Logan:I think I have
Shara:ok
She directs her attention to us
Shara:girls,please go back out to the other room
We silently get up and go sit back down on the bench that changes the rest of your life,for better,for worse,I'm about to lose my bestfriend no matter what happens,I could be stuck here for the rest of my life,I could live with a nice family. I start to get really sad that Tate and I won't see each other again so we just hug until I hear them come back into the room. We separate from the hug and look at them,waiting.
Shara:girls,you may go back to your rooms. Lilly go pack and get down here as fast as possible
I'm not sure to be happy or sad. We both run upstairs and start packing my bags. While we are frantically shoving stuff into my bag,we are quickly talking with each other for the last time.
Tate:I'm so happy for you!! You got adopted!!
This sets both of us over the edge and we both start crying. My tears are joy and sadness. Hers are obviously joy for me and just a bit of sadness.
Lilly:don't cry
I try to say as comforting as possible
Tate:they are happy tears,I'm happy for you!! Your gonna be living your dreams
We both stop talking as I zip up my bag. We then both push ourselves into each other's arms and cry.
Lilly:I'll miss you so much Tater
Tate:I'll miss you more Lil,good bye,I love you
Lilly:bye,I love you too
We give each other a tight squeeze and I start to walk to the stairway.
Tate:wait!!
I turn around and she gives me a piece of her baby blanket. I hold it in my hands and grab a pair of scissors. I dig through my bag and pull out my baby blanket,the one thing I've had forever. I quickly cut of a corner and give it to her. We hug one more time and I walk out. I put her blanket piece in the safest pocket in my bag so I don't drop it.
