"So, what's your problem?" Stiles asked after a long silence. Him and Anne were stuck waiting outside the Hale house as Scott talked to Derek. Normally Stiles would of been rather upset being told to stay behind, especially when he could be pissing off Derek. But something about Anne told him she'd open up if it was only the two of them.
"What do you mean by that?" Anne twirled a browning leaf in her hand.
"Why do you seem to hate everyone?"
"Maybe I actually do hate everyone." Anne's gaze lazily went to his face, she sighed when she saw his rather serious expression. "I don't like Beacon. Something is off here, and it's just not the werewolves and hunters."
Stiles nodded his head, "Related to Deaton, right?"
"You could say that."
"Could?"
"He was my mom's like fifth cousin three times removed, therefore kind of my Uncle."
"Was?"
Anne looked to the floor. "I'm here because Deaton is now my guardian. He's not happy about it but neither am I."
"Parents are....?"
"Mom's dead, Dad never bothered to be a part of his daughter's life."
They sat there in silence.
"I'm sorry." Stiles got out eventually.
Anne opened her mouth to say something when Scott and Derek came back outside, Derek looked a little taken back when he saw Anne.
"Evans?"
Anne glanced to him, nodding her head a little.
"You don't remember, do you?" Derek asked her, "Think back, why is Beacon familar."
Anne took in a deep breath and shook her head.
"Annette, do it." Derek urged and Anne allowed her eyes to shut close.
"Anne! Hurry!" Mrs. Evans was husling her little girl into the car. "We have to get there soon!"
Anne stared out of the window with confusion, "Mommy? Where are we going?"
"There's a woman, she needs our help, that's why we're going to Uncle Alan in Beacon Hills."
"Uncle Al doesn't like me, Mommy." Anne pouted.
"That's not tru-" Their car suddenly flipped and Anne heard her mother yelling her name through the sickening sound of the car being hit by another. Anne tried to scream but found it too hard to stay awake.
"I- I was here with my mom years ago." Anne got out through gulps. "She had a job, a woman dying in a hospital needed her."
Stiles head snapped to Anne's face as she closed her eyes and allowed the memories to resurface again.
"Anne? Anne!" Her mother stood above her, "Look, I have to go find her. But Derek here will take care of you."
Anne's eyes glanced over to the young teenager that stood in the corner. His stormy eyes didn't match the smile on his face. Anne looked back to her mother but she was gone.
"Where am I?" Anne asked the boy, Derek.
"Beacon Hills Hospital. You and your mom got into a car crash on the way here."
"D-Derek?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you know?"
Derek blinked, surprised by the question, "I wouldn't expect such a young girl to already know about it all, even if you are a protector."
Anne nodded her head, the answer being confirmation enough.
"Know who I am yet?" Derek asked her.
"My mom told you to protect me as she worked." Anne said, gasping at the memories.
"Who was the woman?" Stiles demanded, "How long ago was this?"
"About ten years ago, I don't know who it was." Anne said watching Stiles with a bit of fear.
"Can you remember?"
Anne closed her eyes tight, trying to recall the memory. Suddenly her eyes shot back open.
"Hannah, Hannah Stilinski. That's who it was."
