Capital expenditures, to the tune of $20M/yr., could create meaningful change/improvement, if DOCO built smaller schools(all from one set of architectural plans), and acquired distressed properties to build them on, smack in the middle of the neighborhoods that have slipped down the farthest(property values in steep decline). With a new school sitting where there was only the depressing vision of poverty & vandalism; where they pass by it going to some new school halfway across town each morning & evening; where they could have a safe playground facility that is open for them after school is out; where they could PLAY & LEARN, with their neighbors, cousins, girlfriends, Church-members & even their PARENTS; where they could easily walk to & from their homes; walk with their next-door neighbor's kids; where they could look after the youngest students(going to the same DOCO Facility); where they could gaze, with PRIDE, at the changes all those pennies have brought to them!
A preacher SHOULD be able to do something with this! The other Board Members COULD be of a mind to listen carefully to a Rev. Bush. WILL THEY? It don't matter to us here @ATP, because we will publish this idea, where the children will find it... carry it home to their dinnertable... chew on it over some 'trotters' & decide for themselves just what is WRONG w/DOCO/Albany; THE GOOD LIFE CITY will be reborn!
