The Move [discontinued]

Chapter 1

I was laying in bed, having a nice slumber until someone desired to wake me up. I groan as they shake me awake. "Come on Kadence. You gotta get up." I hear my brother's deep voice speak up. I groan again as I open my eyes. I see my brother's curly Afro-like brown hair and swat him away so I can get up. "You better, we have to haul the rest of our stuff into the moving van." I groan, not wanting to do that. "I'll let you change." My brother says as he leaves my room. I roll out of bed as I look around my basically barren room one last time.

The room wasn't too grand now, just a mattress on the floor that I slept on, my closet on the other side of my room, a window sill next to it where I'd sit down to read or draw or something, a window above my bed, and a door to a bathroom. The walls were an off-white, a light brown carpeted floor, white doors, and a heater in my room to keep my room warm since it's cold at night. Holes were in the walls from my shelves and posters and whatnot hung up on the wall.

I walk to my closet where a few articles of clothes are still there. I see a My Neighbor Totoro shirt, a Spirited Away shirt, a couple plain long sleeved shirts, and my plaid red and black checkered shirt. I grabbed the checkered shirt and a gray long sleeve to put under it. I grabbed my undergarments and put them on with blue jeans. I look through all my socks, and decided on my Hmmp socks from Howl's Moving Castle. I threw them on and grabbed the rest of my clothes as I neatly folded them to put them into a box to put it in the moving van. I quickly grab my heart-shaped necklace and put that on as I put my hair in a ponytail so I don't have to brush it right now.

"Hey eonni!" I look up and nod to my little sister Piper. Her long brown hair with highlighted streaks of bleach cascaded down her face and covered one of her blue eyes. She was wearing a Big Bang shirt with blue jeans and her Jordan's. "I'll take your heater for you." I put a thumbs up, feeling that if I talk, I'll cry. We both bring the box and heater out of my room, leaving the mattress for the parents. I set the box with all the other stuff in the moving van and take the heater from Piper. She goes to grab something as I take my phone out from my pocket.

I go to Wattpad and see about 20 notifications as usual. Turns out it's just from the one chat I'm part of on a book called Six Stone Souls; as the chat contains about 4K comments. Ki, Tatos, Storm, Nini, And Danie were having a pillow fight and I roll my eyes, typing where myself and my online alliance Allianna were just listening to k-pop and avoiding the pillow fight happening.

We were moving because my dad got a better job deal in Colorado and my mom would have us finally go to a public school since we were homeschooled. I see my brother walking to a friend of his and I walk over.

"We'll miss ya man. Come visit us when summer rolls around, ya?" My brother nods as he takes his glasses off to clean them to see better. Kevin Malcom looks at me as he sees me coming over. "Ah, Kadence!" He pulls me into a hug as I hug back. He was like a brother to me as we've known him for as long as we could remember. His parents went to school with my mom so it was no surprise we'd meet.
His blond buzz-cut hair was gelled and his brown eyes looked into my blue ones. "Be good will ya? Make some friends, don't let bullies get to you, 'kay?" I nod as my ponytail bounces with my head. Kevin smiles as he pulls me into a hug, my face going to the bottom of his chin due to my height. I hug him tightly, feeling the rough fabric of his red jacket. I bury my face into his chest, inhaling deeply as I get a whiff of his strong cologne. Piper comes over and her music was so loud that I could hear her listening to Boy in Luv by BTS. I let go of Kevin and wave a goodbye as I walk to the car with my siblings.

"Kadence can I please hear your voice one last time before you guys go?" Kevin asks as I look at him over my shoulder.

I sadly smile as I wave a bye and say to him "See you soon." He smiles at me as he waves to us and skated away on his skateboard to his home again. I take a deep breath, and look at our old home.

It wasn't too grand, a small two storied home that is hooked right up to another home. The garage door was closed, and our blue colored home with the blinds to the windows were open. The white picket fence was freshly painted as was the walls of the house. I look away from the house as I hear our parents.

"Come on you three, we haven't got all day!" My dad hollers to us as we head over. I sit next to a window as does my sister. Why my brother who is taller than both of us is in the middle is beyond me but he doesn't fuss. Piper was bopping her head to Bang Bang Bang by Big Bang as I slip my headphones on and press play on my k-pop playlist on SoundCloud, and the first song that pops up is the cover by Jin of BTS singing Autumn Outside the Office Post. My brother was listening to the radio our parents were playing. My dad was driving and my mom was looking for a place to eat at when we arrive in Colorado since it'll be close to lunch.

Piper taps my shoulder after an hour of driving. "Eonni, look at this." She shows me a photo of Got7 being their weird selves and has me read the caption. I nod as I read it. She laughs as she goes back to scrolling through Instagram as I roll my eyes.

We got stuck in traffic and I start to fall asleep as Outro: Wings was playing. I lean my head on my brother's shoulder as we were driving to our new home. Soon enough, I feel asleep.
