We climbed into the back of ambulance and it sped off, making my stomach churn and it's contents fill my throat. I couldn't bear it, people bustled around Mum and she could no longer be seen. I glanced over at Alexa, an ice pack on her now swollen foot. I rested my head on my sister's shoulder and she placed her hand in mine. I felt safe with her hand holding mine, as if nothing could hurt me, nothing physical could hurt me, yet my mind was being tortured. What if Mum wasn't okay? What if my last words to her were "I hate you." after arguing about being late for school and slamming the door behind me?

We continued to sit in silence, our eyes still red. It was the longest journey I had ever experienced. After what felt like years of silence the vehicle came to a halt and the doors swung open, the chill from the air running down my back. Mum was rushed out without us even getting a glimpse of her. A lady wrapped her arm around Alexa to give her support, she was in the same uniform as the others in the ambulance. My sister tried to prove that she was okay, only making it worse.

We were slowly brought into the modern building, the warmth in the air wrapping around me like a blanket. The room was spotless with a shiny white floor and blue-grey walls filled with rows of seats each with an anxiously waiting person and I would soon be one of them.

The lady lead Alexa and I to a large wooden desk that curved into the corner of the large room. Another lady was sitting behind the desk with messy black hair which was tied back in a messy bun on the top of her head. She looked up from her computer and smiled. They lady who had brought us nodded to her and carried on walking.

"Hello. How can I help you young lady?" Her head peered out from behind the large computer screen. My sister was gone with the lady from the ambulance. I felt as if I went tomato red, I wasn't really the talking type. "Our mum just came in from an ambulance, Eleana White, and my sister is just gone with that other lady." I looked over at Alexa and the lady struggling to get her into a chair. The lady hid behind the computer and typed something out with her extremely loud keyboard. She looked up again and shook her head. "I'm sorry but your mother is just gone into theatre. You may sit and wait until she comes out, unless you have other places to be."

"Can I stay with my sister?" I questioned to the lady, hoping she would say yes. The lady shook her head once again and sighed. "I'm sorry but no, I am unsure where she is going. You are going to have to wait here." Although I was raging inside, I thanked the lady and took a seat in one of the many rows of seats, anxiously waiting like everyone else.
