Into The Flames || Fire x Reader ||

Chapter One

Aether's POV
I had just gotten out of the shower when i hear squealing from the other side of the door. "AETHER! AETHER! AETHER!" "WHAT DO YOU NEED?!" I retorted bitterly to the voice on the other side of the door. "Newcomer! Newcomer!" I finally make out the voice, Fire. "What. Do. You. Need?" I retort again. "A NEW GHOUL HAS ARRIVED!" He squealed. I froze.
"A new ghoul?" I say, slowly opening the door to reveal my face and upper abdomen.

"YES! Now hurry, the ritual starts in 5 minutes." He said cheekily and hopped away. He stopped abruptly at the door and whirled around. "Irrelevant but it's a girl." He said smiling while I'm struggling to put my clothes on, grunting because of the struggle. (It's bc he's so damn thicc lol)

Once I have my shirt buttoned up and tucked in I put my masque/mask (however you want to spell it) and ran out the door. I ran down the corridor trying not to be late. Luckily, I'm not, because Papa Nihil would've kicked my ass. I walk into the ritual room and see a girl ,16 or so, laying on the ground in the middle of the pentagram, still and lifeless.

I saw everyone standing around the girl holding hands waiting for me to join. I walk to the cirlcle and hold hands with Fire and Omega. "What's her name?" I asked Fire. "We don't know yet." He replied looking kind of sad. "Hey, are you okay?" I ask, nudging Fire with my elbow. "Hmm? Oh, yeah." He replied quietly.

I nodded my head while Papa Nihil walked in. "Sileeense!" he snapped at the chattering Ghouls. "Sileeeeenseee." Swiss whispered mockingly. "SHAT UUPPP!" Nihil yelled at the chuckling ghouls. Only Fire wasn't laughing. I could only see his eyes due to the mask.

He was crying. "Hey, are you absolutely sure that you're okay?" I put my Fire's shoulder. "I- I'll tell y- you later." he said through sniffles. I felt bad for him. I didn't know why he was crying. He never cries. This had to be bad.

The ritual started when everyone was finally ready. Nihil pulled out the book and put it on the stand in front of him. He started reading the tongues written in the book and the pentagram started glowing a scarlet colour. A new fire ghoul (sorry I really like fire 🤪).

Little embers then started floating up around the girls  body. Papa Nihil stopped talking when she shot up crying and trembling. I saw Alpha jump when she did so, even though it was completely normal for the body to do that after revival.

"Fire, would you?" Nihil asked and pointed to the girl trembling. He knew what he would have to do if he were to get her off of the floor. "N- no I- I can't." he refused blatantly. "No? Why not?" Nihil said in a fake caring voice. "I- I just can't." he said, voice cracking slightly while he tried not to cry.

Wait. does he know her? I tried shrug the thought away but kept coming back. "JUST DO IT FIRE BEFORE THINGS GET ANY WORSE!" Omega snapped. Everyone froze in shock. He never yells. He must be stressed as hell. Fire slowly approached the girl. she flinched away when he reached for her arms.

He knelt down in front of her so she could hear him. "It's okay. I won't hurt you." he said calmingly to her. She nodded and let him pick her up. "Bring her to the chair." Papa Nihil demanded.

He started walking her to the chair by grabbing one shoulder and one arm urging her forward (gently of course). Nihil stopped him. "Why aren't you using the restraints?" Nihil asked angrily. "Because she's not trying to get aw-"

"That is what she's trying to make you think!" Nihil's voice boomed through the room and the corridors. "Use the restraints." He gritted through his teeth. "B- but I don't want to hurt her." he was going to cry. I could hear it in his voice.

"NOW!" Nihil yelled. Fire grunted in a shameful way and let his hands burn her frail skin. She gasped and her legs let out from under her body. Fire quickly got her into the chair and let her go. She was breathless. Literally. She was as trying so hard not to cry.

There are now two burnt hand prints on her body and it made her tremble. "I'm sure you all know what to do from here on out." Nihil said and headed for the door. Once Nihil was gone Fire quickly rushed to the girl and held her tightly. "It's okay. Sh sh sh sh shhh, It'll be alright." he said while stroking her knotted hair.

"Swiss, could you maybe do anything about her pain?" I asked. "Yes. We should probably do it after we mark her." he responded quietly. "What? No, you can't hurt her again. She's in enough pain already!" Fire said walking to us.

"That's why I'll help her after it's all said and done." Swiss said putting his hand on Fire's shoulder. Fire took a deep breath and nodded. Swiss then walked over to the furnace, grabbed a brander, and stuck it in the furnace.

Once hot, he pulled it out of the flames of the furnace. She whimpered when she saw the red hot triangle on the end of the iron rod. "Sh sh sh sh shhhhh, it'll only hurt for a second baby you'll be fine afterwards." he cooed calmingly in her ear. She looked at him worried.

"She hasn't spoke a word since she woke up." Omega whispered to me. "You can't tell me that you wouldn't be scared shitless if you woke up in a room, in the middle of a room, surrounded by men in devil masks!" Mountain yelled at Omega at the top of his lungs. Why was he so mad?

Mountain quickly walked out of the room and shut the door. Swiss then took the branding iron out of the flames and looked at Fire, then at the girl. Fire whispered to her and she nodded her head. Fire looked at Swiss and nodded he walked towards the girl in the chair with the iron. She was very clearly frightened. "It's okay, it'll only hurt for a second." Swiss said calmingly.

He pushed the iron directly on her inner wrist and she cried out in pain. He removed the iron and put his hand on her wrist to heal it. She tried to pull away but Fire held her. "We need to get her to a room before Nihil comes back in here." Swiss stated. I nodded and picked her up to carry her down the corridors.
