Daily Prompt #1
-----------------------------------
I've lived with this condition for my entire life. It's not necessarily bad, to everyone else at least. To me I'm basically killing myself by hugging people. Every time I hug a person I am able to cure any disease, heal any wound, make limbs grow back, and even make the paralyzed able to move again. But any time I do this, I loose five percent of my lifespan. Only the rich are allowed to come and see me, be able to receive these healing hugs from me. This is the reason I can never hug you back in our embraces.
But I want to help more people.
I want to help the kids in the hospital that are in critical condition. The kids that could do so much but have so little time left in this world. They need me.
I love you Piko. Please forgive me.
-Oliver
-----------------------------------
The tall boy dropped the now tear stained letter to the floor, running out of the small apartment. He had to find Oliver before it was too late.

Oliver grabbed the thick, black sharpie from the table and started to write two words onto the cardboard in his lap. "Free Hugs". He smiled sadly to himself as a nurse came in to escort him to the giant room where the terminally ill children would spend their free time. Coloring supplies and paper were strewn across the floor, along with small dolls and stuffed animals. The blonde watched as kids were led to where they wanted to be.
The blonde grabbed two chairs, one to place his sign on and one for later. He took a deep breath before nodding to the nurse that had led him in. She, in turn, nodded back before walking over to the microphone in the corner of the room. "We have a visitor today! Mr. Utatane has come here to give each of you a stuffed animal and a hug!" Oliver felt his heart shatter as he heard the nurse say his and Piko's shared name. They had only been married for a year and a half, it was the best year Oliver's life. He wiped his eyes and looked up from his ring as he felt silent tears stream down his cheeks.
He grabbed one of the small puppy dog stuffed animals from the box on his right as he saw a small girl being pushed in a wheelchair come towards him. Oliver put on a smile and got on one knee to give the girl the small toy. His heart melted as her smile widened. "Thank you sir!" She said happily as Oliver gave her one of his hugs. He could almost feel some of his life being pulled out of himself and transferred over to the girl. Once he pulled away he smiled to the girl's nurse and he rolled her away towards the girl's parents who had come to visit her.
"Yuki, how about you try walking?" That one sentence was stuck in Oliver's head as he saw the small, black haired girl stand, and walk for the first time in four years. He could hear the ecstatic screams of joy from Yuki's parents as their little girl walked again.
The next person wasn't necessarily a child, but they had been in this place since they were a child. Fukase. Without a warning, Oliver ran over to the redhead and gave him a hug, crying into his shoulder. Fukase was startled as he stumbled back a bit, but embraced Oliver back.
"Fukase.. You can finally leave this place.." The blonde whispered as he pulled away.
"What do you mean?" The redhead asked, looking down at the shorter boy.
"Just go get your nurse and get a screening!" The blonde yelled, pushing the redhead towards the door. Fukase had lived with skin cancer his whole life, starting when he was five. The scars on his body didn't go away, but Oliver knew that the hug had worked. He had felt the transfer of life between them.
-----------------------------------
It had been a few hours and the blonde was sitting in the extra chair, taking a shaky sip of water provided by one of the nurses. Four hundred kids. All of them able to go home with their families, not have to worry about expensive medical bills, be able to do anything they want. Eighteen more people. Oliver had eighteen more people before he was gone from this world.
The small boy had started to feel the signs of his wearing away. He was shaking badly, he had become cold to the touch, he couldn't stand anymore. The blonde leaned his head back onto the wall and closed his eyes, sighing deeply.
More kids came up to him and the boy kept giving hugs, watching as the children ran back to their nurses or parents and cried in happiness and joy.
Soon enough, Oliver had one hug left before he died. No more kids were allowed to come see him, he was too weak to even sit upright. "Funny.." He mumbled, wheezing. "I'm killing myself with hugs.." He let out the smallest giggle he could muster before he heard a familiar voice.

His lover's voice.

Piko...

"Oliver?!" Piko gasped as he saw his love in this weak state, not even able to bring his voice over a whisper.
"Yes.. Love..?" The blonde whispered, tears welling up in his eyes. This would be the last time he saw Piko.
The white haired boy ran over to the blonde, wrapping his arms around him. "You're such an amazing person.. I love you.." Piko whispered as he felt Oliver's arms wrap around him, the first and last hug Oliver would ever give him.
"I love you too.." The blonde whispered before closing his eyes, the embrace and warmth of an eternity of sleep feeling amazing.
