Chapter 4

Willow dropped her large rucksack on the dining table and plonked herself on the hard, wooden chair next to it.

"How was the first day of school?" Asked Slender.

Willow gave him daggers, a face as if to say 'what the hell do you think?'

"Oh, yeah it was wonderful dad!... apart from the part where I was humiliated, embarrassed,  and the fact that I can never go to school again." She complained sarcastically, giving him a fake smile.

Slender sat beside her, his knees almost reaching his pale chin. "Haha." He chuckled, "Come on, I'm sure it wasn't that bad. What happened?"

"Dad, you won't understand, you're too old."

"Hmmm..." he shook his head slightly. "No, I'm only one of those... Tell me what happened."

Willow gave him a small sigh. "You know my friend Steven?" She lifted her knees to match the position of her father as he nodded. Steven was like a nerd; he was clever, friendly, and not exactly lucky with the girls. It's not that he wasn't a looker, it was just that he was pretty clingy. Once you made friends with him, that was it, you were stuck with him forever. Willow didn't really mind it much though, she kinda liked having a good friend. Yeah she had Kylie, but it was nice to have a best guy friend.

"Well... he told me he liked me." She continued, hiding the bottom of her face with her black jeans.

Slender jerked his head back a little in surprise,  "Willow, that's nothing to be humiliated about." He chuckled, "If I were you, I'd be pleased!"

Willow was silent for a moment and then continued, "That's not all." She sunk her head deeper behind her jeans, hiding her face in embarrassment and making her voice muffled. "Ryan found out that I like him."

Slender laughed once again, "Ryan? Kylie's boyfriend?"

Ryan was the guy that almost all the girls were after; nice hair, cute,  and athletic. Kylie was just the lucky one, Willow was a little jealous of her, but she was still happy for them.

Willow nodded from behind her jeans.

"Look, Willow." He placed his long arm on Willows shoulder, "You're 15, this is the sort of thing you go through at your age. It's not the end of the world." He let go slowly and Willow emerged from her hiding place. "Anyway, Kylie's your best friend. I'm sure she'll understand." He tried to reassure her as best he could.

She gave out a small grunt and moan and twisted her body so she was no longer facing her father. "Hmm... I'm still never going to school again." She joked.

"Haha" he chucked, "We'll see." He ruffled her hair before getting back to his own thing.

Willow lay in her bed thinking about what had happened that day. Steven is never gonna leave me alone now... maybe I can get Ryan to scare him away...?... no, that's mean. Steven is one of my best friends and I have to be there to accept his opinions... even if they are about me.

She started day dreaming about getting married to people she knew and began replacing her last name with the last name of guys she knew. If I married Steven, I'd be Willow Jones... if I married Ryan, I'd be Willow Strife... that sounds cool I guess.

She then continued with other boy's names, until she came across one name that popped into her head: Willow Woods. Woods... Woods... who was Woods? She repeated the name in her head many times. Oh... yes its that boy I met on my first day of school ten years ago, Jeff Woods.

Willow had not seen Jeff since that day 10 years ago. He never came back to school, neither did his brother, Liu. "It would be nice to meet Jeff again, see how he's doing." She placed her hands behind her neck, lieing on them. "Or at least know he's doing ok, even if I don't speak to him."

With that thought in her mind, she closed her eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, at school, Willow met up with her friends, Kylie, Steven and Ryan. Ryan was with his other group of friends, the group of idiots and douchebags. His friends were the kind of people that would usually pick on kid's like Steven and Willow, but having Kylie there made Ryan stop his friends from doing too much damage.

Kylie and Steven greeted me, "Hey Willow, you alright?" Kylie asked, she had a suspicious smirk on her face, Willow could tell she was going to tease her about Steven and Ryan all day.

Steven and Kylie had their own little chat, Willow didn't mind it too much, she actually prefered it - she didn't really like socialising too much.

"Did you hear about that lad?" Asked one of Ryan's friends. She started evesdropping on their conversation. "Apparently, they found the kid hidden in the kitchen or somethin'. Don't know how he managed to survive, his parent's and brother didn't."

Willow turned her head ever so slightly; looking through the corner of her eye.

"Yeah, I heard he's moving here to live in the orphanage... poor sod." stated Ryan, smiling as he said the last two words. Willow rolled her eyes. "What was the lad's name again...?" Ryan asked his friend.

"Jeff Woods, I think."
