How long had it been. Two hours. A day.  Mearly minuets. Alicia didn't know. She was trapped in darkness the sound of her heartbeat the only thing to be heard. She was floating in a dark abyss. She was awake, conscious but she couldn't make a sound. She tried to scream but no matter how hard she screamed no sound would emerge from her mouth. Flashbacks of her life beamed through the darkness sending her into a pit of fear. She felt helpless, constricted. Trapped.

She woke up drenched in sweat her breathing rapid and her heart pounding through her chest. Her dreams always left her awoken with one emotion. Fear. She couldn't explain why her dreams were the way they were, nor why they scared her so much. It was almost as if she were not in control of her own mind. Mearly a puppet trapped in the grasp of someone else's mind. Still she would go about her morning as of nothing had happened, silently dreading the upcoming night. She briefly glanced at her clock 11:43am. It was as if the morning had past her in one big blur of hopelessness.  For some reason today seemed different to her, usually she could tell how the day would go but today she could bearly keep her hands from shaking, spilling the luke-warm coffee in her small hands. She placed her coffee on the counter and ran her hands through her matted blonde hair. She let out a brief sigh before grabbing her purse and heading straight out the door.

Her walk was silent she knew the afternoon would be long...tireing and above all full of mindless snobs hollering, demanding they be served. It was her shift at the dinner, after a long week of mindless TV and ample amounts of alcohol she wasn't about to take any insults that her customers threw her way. She silently walked through the diner, hung her purse and started her shift. She gazed around aimlessly her face a blank mess. She could hear the distant shouting of unsatisfied customers but chose to silently stick to her own business.

The shift passed in one massive blur full off shouting, catcalls and unsatisfying tips. She began her decent home clutching her purse. It was 02:39pm when she finally mad it home. She tossed her purse agressivly to the side and made her way to her bed. Ready, prepared for a night of helplessness....pain........of FEAR.
