Prologue
Female Voice:
"Dust. A material form of magic, although used all the time in today's modern world it was not always this way for humanity.
Long ago man kind was born into a world of darkness. It was full of creatures of darkness. And although these creatures were feral some did not fall prey to their instincts and were able to live among society creating creatures such as werewolves and other creatures that walk the border of darkness. But even with these super powered creatures humanity struggled and it seemed as though man kind was to be returned to the void. But then Dust was discovered. And with it came weapons, power, and most importantly hope. Civilizations were made and humans began to thrive, but the creatures of darkness, creatures of Grim as they were known, are still out there. Still waiting. It's only a matter of time before they gather and turn humans on one another. Returning them from whence they came and nothing can stop it."
Male Voice:
"Perhaps not nothing. Sometimes unexpected things happen and they are caused by the simple souls of this earth."
The man look down at a young blonde haired girl with her sister in a red hood playing in the forest.
Heather was heading home, her newest bag of loot dangling over her shoulder. She listened to the soft clang of items hitting each other in the bag as she moved, the bag swaying with each step. She wore her red cape as always and had the hood pulled low over her face so her eyes and most of her face were obscured from view.
As she walked hurriedly down the alleys she kept attentive and alert. As she was listening to little noises, she finally figured out what or more accurately who they belonged to. As she rounded a corner, she climbed up an escape ladder, swiftly and silently. She peered down and watched her three siblings, Ethan, Aidan, and Meghan dart under her, not bothering to look up, and watched them groan in frustration. She stifled a laugh as she watched them.
"We almost had her!" Ethan exclaimed.
"Yeah right, you were the one who gave us away!" Meghan said.
"Quit bickering already." Aidan sighed with exasperation. "She couldn't be that far ahead."
While they argued over who's fault it was, Heather dropped down behind them, landing with a soft thud, the noise of their arguments drowning her out. She carefully walked closer to the three kids trying not to laugh.
"Boo!" Heather yelled, her head directly behind Ethan.
They jumped and screamed with fear, while Heather held her stomach with laughter.
"NOT FUNNY!" They cried in unison. Horror written all over their faces.
"Nice try guys, but you can't beat the master." Heather says.
She ruffled Aidan's already unkempt hair.
Heather eyes focus on something lurking in the shadows and she drops her bag. It made a crash as it hit the ground, the metal objects banging together. The bang got the children's attention and they watch as Heather tentatively pulls out a gun of her own creation, one that she keeps with her at all times. Her high powered mechanical scythe that doubled as a sniper rifle.
She peered into the shadows and aimed the rifle. As she cocked the barrel, she saw five pairs of glowing orange eyes peering back at her.
The werewolves fanned out, circling the Heather and the three kids. The children were paralyzed with fear, their eyes wide as they watched with horror as the werewolves circled them. Heather felt her muscles tense as she looked around her.
