The bustle of LAX is almost too much. The horde of people maneuvering around me causes my muscles to constrict and a lump to form in my throat. The direct contact has my heart running in overdrive and my mind going hazy with the overstimulation.
Maybe this was a bad idea. Moving all the way to Los Angeles from our small town in North Dakota is a big leap. I am used to my own space and my privacy. I could ignore everyone for days if I wanted to. Which I actually did quite often. I would hide away in my room and upload random videos to my YouTube channel. I have all about ten subscribers, though they are mainly friends. I was able to keep to myself though. Here there are so many people. They don't speak but just rush by, trying to get to their destinations. I am swept up in the flow, forced to follow. My entire body is trembling. I need to get out of here. I need air, before I break.
As though the world were answering my pleas, the doors to the airport slide open and I escape the throng of people. It's a good thing I sent most of my luggage ahead first and only brought a duffel bag and my purse on board with me. I had brought my blogging material with me and even did a little clip before boarding the plane and kept it on as we exited. I will have to edit some of the video later. Maybe I can get more people to notice my channel while I'm here in LA.
Stepping to the side and releasing the burning air in my lungs, I pull out my phone with trembling fingers. I turn on my data once more and pull up my contacts. Clicking on Natalie's name, I call her.
"Y/n," my own name gets yelled out before anyone can pick up the line.
Glancing up, I spot Natalie's dark hair mixed within the swarm of people. Relief washes over my quaking body. I hike up the heavy duffel bag's strap over my shoulder and begin my pushing match to get to my older sister. Once I reach her, the bag falls and I am engulfed within her arms.
"I'm so glad you finally made it!" When she pulls away, there are tears brimming her pale eyes.
Anyone that sees us together would not believe we are related. Natalie takes after our mom, her body filled out much more than mine. She has all the curves. My features are petite and there are nonexistent hips. Not to mention, my y/h/c hair does not match her creamy hue.
"Its so weird to finally be here." I release my pent up sigh before being pushed around by more people.
"Come on, let's get in the car." Natalie picks up my bag before throwing it in the trunk of her Toyota and jumping into the driver's seat. I open the passenger door and slide in. This is going to be a very unique lifestyle.
