"Well I just hope for one that we aren't crazy." Natalie laughs as we near the edge of the boardwalk.
Laughing, I start to descend the steps, ignoring the vendors selling fruit. Maybe I'll buy some of the mango later.
Once we touch the sand, I take off my sandals and allow the coarse grain to dig into my skin. It's nice to get one thing off my shoulders. Being able to confide in my sister has allowed the knot in my abdomen to loosen ever so slightly. There is still a lightness of my chest that flutters my heart. It has been there all day and I dont really have any clue as to why. Maybe it has to do with finally being in LA? Must be.
It's almost as though something is coming. Its hard to explain, but I can feel the overwhelming excitement building in my body, constricting my muscles.
"Watch out!" The masculine shout shakes my entire body at the same time as a volleyball slams into Natalie's face.
She squeaks and falls back, catching herself before fumbling to the ground. The ball hits the sand and stays in place. Two men run up, but I refuse to look up at them, the echo of the man's voice still bouncing around in my head. My heart begins to quicken and I only look at my sister.
"I'm so sorry, Jackson hit it too hard. Again." The man from before chastises the second male. I can see their figures from the corner of my eye. The one speaking is thin and tall while the other is more built, his muscle rippling under his cut off tank top. My vision is hazy around the edges but I swallow my heart as Natalie groans.
"It's okay, it was an accident." She smiles up at them before a slight blush creeps up her neck. Not many would notice this reaction from her, but she is an open book to me. These men must be very good looking to have her mouth gaping open and all words dying on her tongue. Maybe I should look?
That was a bad idea.
As soon as my eyes land on the man before me, my entire body lights up. Fireworks explode within my chest and abdomen. My stomach is thrown up into my throat and every muscle in my body comes alive, dancing. The base of my neck tingles as my brain dances. My vision blurs, making it hard to clear his image. It slowly fades though, my eyes focusing.
"I'm Mark by the way," his words fall on my heart as his eyes send flames across my flesh. My body grows heavy and my mind hazy. His dark gaze is all I see before my entire world goes black.
