A New Beginning (Max Goodwin X reader)

A request

You are talking to your old friend Doctor Helen Sharpe

"so what do you want me to do?" you ask a little confused as to why Helen has asked to see you

"read this first and then I'll ask," she responds by passing you a sheet of paper 

you read it and you are shocked at what you're reading

"as the assistant medical director, you need to keep an eye on Max in case anything happens," 

"look I can't guarantee anything but I'll see what I can do," you respond

"should I tell him, that you showed me his test results?" 

"Only if he asks," Sharpe replies

"ok thanks for letting me know," you say realising that Helen has explained his odd behaviour

Thirty minutes later and you have caught up with Max 

"(Y/N) good you're here I need your help," Max says as he starts walking to the ED

"hang on, with what?" you ask struggling to keep up

"can you talk to the press for me," he says 

"why are they here?" you ask baffled 

"Tommy Mansfield the quarterback, he was shot," Max replies

"and I'll be busy helping the other doctors,"

You both enter the ED to find a chaotic mess of reporters and cameramen. They descend on you and Max 

"will he make it?" one of the reporters asks

"can we expect a quick recovery," another reporter asks

"good luck," Max whispers in your ear

"I don't need it," you respond

"watch,"

You whistle to get everyone's attention and it works

"everyone we will do all the press once we know what the extent of the situation is and until then I want everyone out of the ED," you calmly demand

everyone who is with the press starts to trickle out. You notice Max has gone a little pale

"Max are you all right?" you ask a little concerned

"yea I'm fine," he replies 

"are you sure," you say quizzically

"yea...no," he responds before he collapses

You bend down next to him and check his pulse

"I need help his pulse is tacky," you demand

"Doctor Bloom?" 

"coming," she says placing a patient's chart on the table next to her

"Doctor Bloom I need you to intubate," you command again as you role Max over and start chest compressions

thirty seconds later and Doctor Bloom has got the chest tube down Max's throat and she is

"charge two hundred," you command as you grab the defibrillator paddles so you can get his heart rhythm back on track

"Clear," everyone helping moves away

You place the paddles on his chest and shock. You check his pulse and it's normal

"we have sinus rhythm," you say as you relax a little bit but then you notice a reporter

"Excuse me do you mind if I take that note pad," you get up and take the note pad anyway

"What was that for?" The reporter asks a little disgruntled

"no press until we know the outcome," you answer with what you said earlier

" and that includes notes," 

The reporter backs off a little bit.
