I don't remember much.

All I remember is warmth, home, love and family.

And then I blink and it was gone.

Everything. The cosy warm blankets, the roof above my head, my mother.

The next thing I know, I'm in a soggy cardboard box, a bitter, icy breeze hitting my face as I huddle with my 12 siblings and scream at the top of my lungs for my mum to come and save me!!
But Mum doesn't come.

Mum's not there.

I hear an ear splitting crash and suddenly it's dark. We all Yelp in fear, but no one can hear us.
There is a loud roaring sound and a huge jolt as we lurch forward into motion. I scream again as I huddle up even closer the other kittens and hope that whatever dangerous thing is outside our box will go away and leave me alone.

Screaching to a sudden halt, our box jumps forward as it flips on its side. Suddenly theres a flurry of excitement and panic as all of us try to escape.

Half of us are free now.

I can see a glimpse of light.

I can almost smell freedom.

I'm so close...

Suddenly theres a blinding glare of light, which is quickly blocked by a giant walking shadow. Fear struck, I dive back into the shadows and cower in the corner.

Then I feel a firm grip around me. In immense panic, I wriggle and kick with a much strength as I can manage, but it's no use.

I'm stuck again.

I am dropped back into the box with 2 of my siblings, and suddenly we're moving again.

When I next open my eyes, I'm still in my cardboard box, but the box is somwhere new. Peering gingerly through a hole at the bottom of the box, I scan my new and strange surroundings.

Heavy raindrops splash down onto the concrete tiles on the ground. Beyond that, a large area of dark, grey stone extends into the distance as large chunks of metal speed past and seemingly random intervals. Right in front of me, a sea of giant feet swarm past me, their heavy footsteps slamming onto the ground just centimetres from my face.

My two siblings are launching themselves at the rim of the box above my head. I'm scared, but after watching them for a while, I decide to join in. But they are bigger and stronger than me, and soon I end up crouching in the corner again.

Then, I see a pair of feet stop right in front of me. A brand new wave of panic hits me as I slowly lift my head and peer up at the opening.

To my absolute horror, there is a large face staring down at us.

I watch with terror as two large arms reach into the box, and two large hands scoop my brother up and lift him out of the box. The face shouts something, and is promptly answered by a smaller face, which now too stairs down into our box.

Before I know what's happening, I suddenly find myself in the small stranger's arms. I don't know what to do!! Panicking, I open my tiny mouth as wide as I can and bite the hand that is holding me captive. And then I'm falling.

Trembling, I land back in the box and look up at my victim. More rain seems to be falling from her face. Cowering back in my corner, I lie down and close my eyes. I've had too many close calls today.

I'm awoken by a sudden flash of blinding white light, followed by deafening roar from the sky.

Remembering where I am, I glance around the interior of the soggy box. I'm alone now. Suddenly I realise that my siblings must have been taken by the face monster!! I let out a small Yelp and shiver at the thought.

The box is basically mush by this point, so I easilly push through it and I'm suddenly exposed to the vast, bright, loud outside world.

Desperately looking around, I spot a dark, narrow passageway behind me. I leap to the safety of the quiet and shelter from the heavy raindrops underneath a pile of plastic bags, and try to make myself comfortable for the night.

In the morning, I go on my way. I will avenge my siblings. I will find my comfy warm house, and my mum.

But, for now...

Lone kitten is alone against the world.
