After an accident when Jackson was 15 he could see and communicate with ghosts. Different ghosts had specific colors based on what emotion they felt right before their deaths. Red being rage, yellow being joy, blue being sad and etc. He felt an obligation to help these ghosts move on. Especially so after meeting Holly.

He found her when he felt a lot of nonhuman emotions coming from the library across the street and went to discover its cause. There he saw many tormented and sorrowful ghosts around a petite girl reading in a corner. Jackson continued to return to the library and learned many things about the girl.

Her name was Holly, and her parents died in a house fire. After their deaths she was sent to live with her many relatives but none of them could take care of her. For she had become mute after the incident. After being handed to her 5th relative she ran away and began to live in the abandoned library. Her parents owned and maintained it so she felt very comfortable and secure there. There was even  spare room in the back.

He felt terrible for her and promised to rid all the negative energy in the library for her. She never complained about the ghosts doing anything or of him hang out with her. She simply sat there reading and after a while of Jackson visiting she started to show more of her personality. She would poke his shoulder to get his attention and show him the stories she was reading.

After a while this became a regular thing where they would read together every friday evening and most of saturday. Then they started to hear stories about hauntings and would go out to solve them. Him using his powers of ghost communications and her telling him what type of ghost it was using her large memory of the books in that library. Jackson started to feel a special bond with Holly and he believed she felt the same.

He only wished she could speak to him but was fine with the way she was now.

As he dreamt this a loud noise snapped him back into consciousness, it was Holly with another stack of books. A feeling of embarrassment went down his body. He was dreaming something ridiculous about a girl right in front of him. He shook his head and grabbed a book in the pile.

Jackson couldn't exactly concentrate on reading so he thought to something she quoted before. Evil spirits are born from dark magic and grow from fear. Children ghosts are normally more weak and younger. They take on a child's form because this form requires less energy. So based on this, how horrified the old man was the ghost had to be a bigger threat.

Jackson then asked "Evil, ancient, powerful, and spirits. Do you have anything?"

Holly thought to herself then nodded her head. However she couldn't remember where it was. She grabbed a sheet of paper and wrote 'I'm not sure which book though'. The disappointment was clear on Jackson's face, this causing Holly to write smiling 'We can look for it together'.
