"Until you meet a gigantic beast on a mountain and witness it's outrage, you can never know its beauty." - Renwick Macmillan Sr., Memoirs of Renwick Macmillan

Ren stares up at the huge beast. His black scales glimmer in the setting sun. Darkness will soon descend the mountainous land and blind the human army against the Dragon attacks. She has no weapon, no way of defending herself.
Tulvir is distracted, trying to help Askook protect the king against another enemy Dragon. Ren stays frozen beneath the hot breath of the black beast before her. She glances between his legs at the sword battle the King is quickly losing. Metal clangs against metal. Ren desperately wants to assist him, but there is no way around the Dragon and he won't let her pass.
A sharp, silvery blade pierces through the King's chest. Ren gasps and her eyes widen. Red stains the blade's tip.
Ren screams, "No," and jolts forward, trying to get to him and help him.
"Where are you going, little worm?" The Dragon's voice booms.
He blocks Ren's path and grips her tightly, curling his claws around her small body. She isn't strong enough to escape his hold.
This is the end. The humans are going to lose. The King is dying and Ren can do nothing. It is all over.
