Long ago, an ancient prophesy was foretold that a big event was gonna happen. Not just any big event. Oh no. A super big one that would change the life of a certain girl forever.
Queen Carlotta had been waiting for this day. She knew it would be in her time of ruling.
So on one starry night when Genevieve Carter stared outside her window, amazed by how many stars were out that night, the prophecy was coming to pass. The Ones Above couldn't wait.
Genevieve was sure she saw a star falling. It could obviously had been a meteor in space but something told her it wasn't. Something also told her to go and check it out. So she did. Pulling her jacket over her pajamas, she jumped on the tree next to her window with the familiarity of doing it many times before.
Trudging through the night into the forest, she began to search for the thing that she had seen. the dark forest was quiet. The small woodland creatures all fast asleep. She wasn't really afraid. She had been here all her life. Coming here to think and draw sometimes. All the times she had been there, there were no sightings of wild animals. Even the tourists who sometimes took walks here didn't see anything dangerous.
Genevieve thought she had been walking for hours and she was about to give up and go back to bed. After a minute or two she decided she had imagined it. As she turned around to go back, something glinted under her flashlight's beam. She rushed towards it and pushed away some dirt and leaves. Underneath was a shiny golden... pencil?
She came all this way for a pencil?
She frowned clearly wanting it to be something else. She would even go for a meteorite.
Then she heard her name just barely over a whisper. She looked around.
"Who's there?" she asked uneasily. The only reply was silence.
When she heard the voice again, she realized it was coming from the pencil. She peered at it. How strange that a pencil will talk to her. Well, she had just seen it fall from the sky...
Her hand inched closer to the pencil and it was so mesmerizing she thought she was under a spell. She had to touch it. She didn't know why but she just had to.
Her fingers made contact with it and for a split second, nothing happened. Then the darkness hit her like a brick. No, like a ton of bricks.
The Ones Above smiled.
All was still...
