"Genevieve!"
I opened my eyes to see a slightly annoyed Mom.
" Get out of bed. You overslept."
OMG! The bus was gonna be here any minute. I dashed into my adjourning bathroom.
After I showered, brushed my teeth, put my brown hair into a ponytail, I looked in my wardrobe for something to wear. Ah. First day of second quarter.
I finally settled on a white camisol with a grey jacket and black leggings.
I put on my blue sneakers and grabbed my bag. Then I heard the bus horn. Oh no. I was gonna be late!
I grabbed a banana and rushed out the front door. The bus was already leaving.
"WAIT!!!" I screamed, as I ran after it.
It finally screeched to a halt and I hopped inside. The bus driver, Mr. James, glared at me.
"Sorry," I smiled sheepishly. I walked to my spot in the middle of the bus and squeezed in between my two BFFs. I know most group of three friendships don't really work but Monica, Emily and I just click like that.
" Hey, Nica and Em. Whats up?"
"Gee-gee!" They both squealed simultaneously.
That was my nickname. I know it's a little weird, but that's what they call me.
"So, who's ready for second quarter." Nica asked. She's the bubbly one among us. Em is the sarcastic type. But you just gotta love her.
Emily and I groaned.
.....
When we got to school, I breathed in dramatically. Hello Northridge High. I am not happy to see you.
We made it to the receptionist's office and collected our schedules. They change them every quarter.
This is mine:
ENGLISH LITERATURE
VISUAL ART
MATH
GYM
LUNCH
BIOLOGY
SOCIAL STUDIES
FRENCH
"Okay, Nica and I have social studies together, Em and I have Art and you and Nica have math together and we all have gym together." I said.
"Well, at least in gym we're all together and we can talk." Nica said optimistically.
We all went our separate ways and I was almost in English class when someone hit me and all my books when flying.
"Great." I said and looked up from the floor.
Oh no.
I had just hit the most popular boy in my grade. Correction, he had just walked into me.
I swallowed. Well, more like gulped.
"What is wrong with you?!" he snapped.
I glanced at his friends. They all had smirks on their faces. Did they think I would scamper away and quiver in fear or something?
Puh-lease.
He was about to speak again when I tiptoed so I could almost be his height.
"First of all, you walked into ME. I should be asking you that question. And second, must you be so rude about it? Last time I checked we were in the same grade! I'm not a little sixth grader you can boss around. Not that you should boss them around in the first place. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm late for class. And try not to run into any more unsuspecting girls, please."I said before turning away, picking up my stuff and walking off to English class...LIKE A BOSS.
Once I sat down, the tardy bell rang.
Yes! I wasn't late! Woohoo!
Mr Linton walked in and began to take attendance.
That was when all my feelings of triumph melted away...
Oh my gosh! I had just yelled at Blake Harrington. I buried my face in my hands. How cliche could my life get?
