~Flashback~

"27, 28, 29, 30! Ready or not, here I come!" I yell as little 6 year-old-me jumps up from the tree stump. I wipe away the dirt from my pants and look around. I see a shoe sticking out from behind a bush. "Found you, Shawn!" I say as 7 year-old Shawn Mendes walks out from behind my mother's rose bush.

"Not fair! You win every time! How do you do it?" he asks with a frown on his face.

"I got good eyes." I say pointing to my eyeball. We both giggle and switch. It was my turn to hide.

~End of flashback

Man, do I miss Shawn. When we were in elementary, we used to really good friends, until we got into Junior High. Then he started hanging out with boys his age instead of me and we kind of grew apart. I haven't talked to him since I was in fifth grade and he was in sixth.

We're in High School now. Since we split up, we became complete opposites. He's popular, I'm not. He has lots of friends, I don't have any. He's very outgoing, I'm shy. Anyway, you get the point.

Ugh! Today is the first day of school. Kill me now. I get up and take a quick shower. Then I brush and dry my hair. I brush teeth, shave my legs, and put on deodorant. I walk back into my room and open my closet to search for what  gonna wear. I don't care what anyone thinks about so I don't dress up for school. I usually wear shorts or pants, a T-shirt, and a hoodie. I pick out a tank top, jean shorts, and one of my school hoodies. I grab my converse and put them on. They're really old. I have others but these are my favorite and throwing them away would be like disowning a family member.

Before heading downstairs, I look at my timer on my wrist. 5 months, 21 days, 3 hours, 52 minutes, and 37 seconds left. I cover it up with my hoodie sleeve and walk to the kitchen. I grab a price of toast, sling my backpack on my shoulder, and head outside. The school is about a ten minute walk from here and I am pretty early. Its a nice morning so I decide to walk. I slide my headphones my head and listen to 'Superhuman' by Chris Brown. After a minute, I just got caught up in the music and started singing. I only sing in front of my family. I get really nervous when I sing in front of other people. I get a few stares but I'm deep into the music to care.

When I arrive at school, I go straight to my 1st class, Music. Nobody's in the room and won't be until 8:25 and its only 7:40. I plug my phone into the speakers and play SoMo's cover of Don't Judge Me by Chris Brown (A/N: I LOVE SoMo!!). I listen to it over and over. I sing with it. I don't think I'm that good but my parents and brother think I am.

"I don't wanna go there. We should never go there. Why you wanna go there? I guess I gotta go there. You're hearing rumors about me and you can't stomach the thought of someone touching my body when your so close to my heart. I won't deny what they're sayin' because most of it is true, but it was all before I fell for you , so please babe." I sing then suddenly I hear another voice.

"So please don't judge me. And I won't judge you, 'cause it could get ugly before it gets beautiful. And please don't judge me and i won't judge you and if you love me, then let it be beautiful." We sing in perfect harmony. I turn around and see that its Shawn. I hurry to my phone and shut off the music.

"Sorry. I'll get out." I say grabbing my stuff.

Before I can get to the door, he grabs my arm, spinning me back around toward him. "You don't have to get out. I just heard music playing and thought that I'd come and check it out. You have a beautiful voice my the way."

"Thanks." I say looking down and blushing.

"Play the song again, please. I wanna do a duet."

"Okay." I walk over and plug my phone up again. I start the song over and play it out loud. We sing in perfect harmony the whole song and stare into each other's eyes. Man, do his brown eyes make you wanna melt.

When the song ended, we heard clapping and turned toward the door. My whole class plus my teacher is just standing there wide-eyed, and clapping there hands together. I run over to my phone and shut off the music.

"I'm sorry Mrs. David. We didn't hear the bell ring." I say.

"Honey, you don't have to be sorry! That was terrific! Shawn, how did you get her to sing in front of other people? Do you know how many times I have tried to get her to join choir?" she says.

"Um, no. I'm sorry Mrs. David. Like Jessi said, we didn't hear the bell. I'm late for my first class." says Shawn. He turns toward me with a big smile plastered on his face. "I'll see you later." He slings his backpack over his shoulder and walks out of the class room.
