"Woah, you okay?"

It had been a harmless gesture. Cole and Jay had been cuddling in the Earth Ninja's bed (per the Lighting Ninja's request). It had been perfectly fine, Cole spooning the smaller boy, until Cole had tried to move his hand under Jay. This caused the boy to whimper and jerk violently away from the touch, his body ramming into the other behind him. Of course, this had startled and worried Cole. Did he hurt him?

"Huh? Y-Yeah, I'm fine," Jay responded, hoping his boyfriend wouldn't think too much about it as he settled himself, resting his back against Cole again. However, against his wishes, Cole was definitely worried.

"Jay... Please tell me what's wrong. Did I hurt you?" Cole asked, lifting his head up to see Jay's face. The smaller boy was focusing on the sheets of the bed instead of looking over at Cole. "Turn around and look at me." Jay sighed, turning his body slowly as he obeyed. He looked up at Cole for a moment, looking back down shyly. He would have pulled his orange scarf up to cover his embarrassed face, but it was balled up at the end of the bed after Cole had convinced Jay to take it off while they cuddled. Instead, he opted to hide his face in the chest of the other.

"Jay, what happened?" Cole asked again, combing his fingers through the curly brunette hair that still showed. Jay shook his head, keeping his arms wrapped tightly around the other. "Look, I'm going to unwrap your Gi, okay? I want to make sure you aren't hurt," Cole began to untie the other's Gi, only for his hands to be pushed away quickly.

"No! No, I'm fine Cole, I promise," Jay failed to reassure the muscular ninja. Pushing past his hands, Cole continued to unwrap the other's outfit, while Jay continued to whine and attempt to push his hands away. Finally, Cole had unwrapped the Gi and began pulling it off of his side. Jay, blushing, covered his face, ready for the reaction. Cole gasped.

On Jay's side was a large, poorly bandaged gash. The area around it was bruised. Cole was shocked. When had this happened?

Jay squirmed as Cole tried to touch the bandages gently. They were wrapped unevenly around the small boy's body, and barely secured correctly. "Jay... Honey, what happened?" Cole asked, looking at Jay. He refused to show his flushed face, clearly embarrassed that his boyfriend had discovered what he wanted to keep under wraps (quite literally).

"It's just a small boo-boo... I may have gotten a little bit hurt on the mission yesterday," He mumbled, peeking up at Cole.

"A little?! Jay, no, how bad did they get you?" Cole asked, very worried. How had Jay, the nervous wreck of the force, managed to hide this without anyone knowing?

"I... I don't want you to worry about me, I'm fine," The boy whimpered, looking back down again. He had clearly gotten hit pretty bad, if he had moved so forcefully away from Cole's accidental touch. Cole sighed, his hands moving to pull Jay's hand away from his face gently. The smaller of the two didn't resist, looking up at Cole with tear-filled eyes.

"Jay, I'll always worry about you. We're dating, for God's sake, why wouldn't I worry? I don't find it annoying that I constantly care for you, I just want to make sure you're okay. I love you, I'll always care about you. Okay?" Cole smiled sadly. Jay gave a small nod, hiding in his chest. Cole rubbed his back gently.

"Now, why don't we fix this bandage? We can cuddle some more after. Sound good?"

"... Yeah... Sounds good."
