"Hey mom!", Christina walks into the house and gives her mom a hug. "Abigail, say hello to your grandma", Nick says while he slowly gives his 2-year-old daughter a little push in her back to Lynne. Abigail walks slowly to her grandma and says: "Hi grandma" while she looks at the ground. "Hey Abigail, look how big you're getting" Lynne says to the shy little girl. Then she turns to Nick and greets him and gives him also a hug.
"How is Christina doing?" she asks him. "Uhm... Mom? I'm standing right here?" Christina says waving a little. "She is doing great! In a month we can find out the gender of the baby" Nick says beaming proudly. Lynne looks at Christina and smiles at her. She can't wait to become a grandmother again. "Come!" Lynne says to Christina and Nick. Both of them follow Lynne to the dining room with Abigail trailing behind them.
In the dining room Nick, Joey, Christian and Dani are already seated. They are the only ones that still live at home. Dani is planning moving out soon. Without Lauren in the house she easily gets bored. "Are we early?" Christina asks her mom. "Not really, but you know that the others love coming late" Lynne says still smiling. It doesn't really matter to her, in the end it only matters to her that they come. They hear the front door opening and someone asking: "Did you lock the car?", Dani immediately recognizes that voice: Amy. "Yes I did" someone else answers: William. William is Amy's boyfriend, they have been together for 2 years already.
"Hey!" Amy says while going into the living room. Amy always has been the excited type. "I saw another car already coming, don't know who it is though" William says. The moment he finishes his sentence, the door opens again. Someone else is coming!
------ (10 minutes later)
"Why did mom not lock the door?" Lauren mumbles to herself. She puts her key in her handbag and closes the door behind her. She can hear her siblings and others in the living room. Am I the last one to arrive? She is thinking to herself. She did leave to late so that can be true.
Lauren walks to the dining room and sees that everyone is already seated and there is only one seat left for her. It's between Lisa and William. "Hey Lauren!" Dani says excited. Lauren smiles at her. Dani is the only sister she is close with anymore. The other's moved out long time ago and started with their next lives. Lauren didn't move out that long ago and kept being close with Dani. She knows that is not fun being the only sister left in the house.
Lauren walks to the seat in between Lisa and William. Both of them greet her with a smile. She smiles back and greets them to. William is the boyfriend of Amy, they have been together for 2 years. Lisa doesn't have a boyfriend. She was dating this guy called Jack for almost 5 years, but they broke up 2 months ago. No one in their family knows why, Lisa doesn't want to talk about it, and they don't talk about those kinds of things in their family anymore.
"Time to eat!" Lynne says excited while walking into the room. She looks at her children. A lot has happened to them these last years, and they are definitely not as close as they used to be. But that is normal. They don't live at home anymore. Suddenly Katherine stands up: "guys, John and I have something to tell you". She grabs the hand of John, her boyfriend of 3 years, and says: "we're getting married". Lynne looks at the ring on Katherine's finger. It's beautiful. She feels her eyes tearing up. All of her children are growing up. They are getting so old!
She walks to her daughter and gives her a hug. "I'm so happy for you Katherine" she says, and then she gives John also a hug. Christina and Lisa also act really excited for Katherine. The rest of the children congratulate them quietly. But that was to be expected. They are not all that close anymore.
Christina moved out of the house when she turned 23 and Katherine followed shortly only being 21 years old. Michael then also decided he was to old living at home. Then Christina got married when she turned 24 and Lisa also decided it was her turn to move out. Alex moved out when he went to study in New York, he was 19 years old. Amy moved out at 21 to live with her boyfriend. They were only together for 3 months, but she felt that he was the one for her. And they are still together so guess she was not wrong?
After all of them moving out no one moved out for almost 2 years, but suddenly Lauren also moved out 6 months ago. It was a hard time for Dani because she learned to rely on Lauren so much. She was the only sister that Dani had because they didn't get to see the other ones that much. Yeah, for the occasionally birthday and holiday but that was it. They didn't hang out as a family next to that.
Lauren moved out to also live with her boyfriend, but they broke up only 1 month after that. Lynne offered that she could move back in but Lauren found her own apartment and stayed there, it was closer to her college anyway.
Lynne knows that she is lucky most of them didn't move away immediately when they enrolled in college. But that is mostly because they have been home schooled their whole life probably. When the first ones started to move out the rest followed quickly, and she knows that it will not long much more before Dani also moves out.
It's just sad that everything is changing and that their family is changing... But that's just life. Everyone eventually moves away from their childhood home and starts their own family next to that. They will always cherish their family but the bond from childhood changes when they don't live in the same house anymore.
That's life.

So what I thought what would have happened if the band never got together is that Christina for example would have settled with Nick faster than that she is doing now and that the family bond would have been less than that is at the moment.
Any requests? ;)
