Chapter one
My head is dizzy and everything I saw was blur when I opened my eyes. After blinking a couple of times, my sight was getting better. I looked around my surrounding as I stretched my arms to the fullest as I made an ugly face when I yawned, until, I froze, realizing something; I’m not at my house!
I was sitting up and I was seated on a leather couch that was placed inside a room that looked more like an office. In one side of the room there was a wide, glass window and I could see busy people walking by, but then I saw someone rather familiar.
His hair had the colour of chocolate brown; his nose was pointy and could nearly pop a balloon. He walked inside the room and smiled at me all charmingly, hypnotizing me with his ravishing looks. His blue eyes had gray tints on the sides and they sparkled liked the stars.
“Hey, I see that you’ve finally woken up!” he said.
I didn’t know what to say or do, so I said and did things without ever thinking. “Yeah,” I laughed. “Did I get hit by a bus?”
“Oh no, no, no,” he said, waving his hands in front of me. “I twisted your neck enough to make you unconscious.”
“You what?” I stood up as I remembered everything that happened last night and began to panic. “I need to go home!”
Then I heard the door open, and then closed. A guy with an FBI uniform came inside. “I don’t think so, Miss.” He said. “If you ever want your family to be safe, you won’t go home.”
“Why?” I don’t understand my situation! “What’s happening?”
“Last night,” the guy in FBI suite started. “You just witnessed yourself a murder case.”
“I witnessed...”
“A murder case”, he interrupted. “And because of that, you will not be permitted to use the telephones, cell phone or any gadget that allows you to connect.”
“Internet?” I asked.
“That’s a big no”, the other guy said.
I sat down at the brown, leather couch, massaging my temples slowly as my head started to ache. Why did this ever happen to me? I’ve never done something bad, except when I was little, but nothing serious.
What would happen to my little brother now? He needs me to be there for him and only I know my brother this well at the moment. His health isn’t getting that better and he needs me.
“I know that this is hard for you”, the FBI guy said. “It’s hard for everyone involved in cases like this, but when the suspect is found, you’re free to go.”
“But what if that would take forever?”
“That would be impossible”, he laughed.
“I have my brother to take care of; you have to let me go!” I argued.
“Right, I have my family to take care of too”, he said, pointing at himself. “But we all have to give up time so we all would live, right?”
The FBI guy walked out and I was left alone with the other guy with the pointy nose. “I’m Matt”, he introduced himself and extended his hand for a friendly shake, but I wasn’t in the mood for a friendly shake and ignored him, realizing that I wouldn’t do what he expect me to do, he pulled his hand away slowly.
The room was silent for and I wasn’t in the mood to talk. I want to get out. My brother needs me and I need to be out for there for him. I hope he’s ok.
