"The simple idea of love is strange; it doesn't make any sense.

Why open yourself up to someone, trust them with all of your secrets, and the most fragile part of yourself- your heart?
Why hand your heart over, and trust someone not to hurt it, not to betray it? Why would you give someone the opportunity to damage you like that?
How good could love possibly feel- how good could is possibly be to make you risk all of that? I never could understand that.
It's always baffled me.

Then I saw your smile, heard your laugh, saw your compassion and love for other people.
And something just... Changed.
My previous thoughts that I couldn't love, that I couldn't understand it- they were tossed aside, because I was sure that I knew love now.

Without even meaning to, you've changed me.
You've flipped my world upside down, and totally changed me.
You've taught me love, (y/n).

I had never wanted this.
I had never wanted to feel so vulnerable to another person.
Love is scary.
But now I understand why people let themselves fall in love.

Love is beautiful."

I had never known before how Zane felt about love. I mean, hell- we had been friends for years before we started dating, and I had never seen him interested in a girl. Or boy. Or anyone, really.
He had always said that he didn't think he had the ability to love. I had always reassured him that he would know when the right person came along.
And after senior year, fate apparently decided that it was me.

We were in love.
He was so sweet, so caring.
He was more human that anyone else I had ever met, even if He didn't think So.
He would do anything for those he loved.

And he did.

Now he's gone, and it hurts so badly.
Zane was right.
Love does hurt.
Because I gave him my heart, and now he's gone.
