Chapter 4

I then got the idea to text Madison from Hayes' phone when he got home, and have her meet up with "Hayes" the next day. When Hayes got home after hanging out with a "friend", I put on The Notebook and Hayes fell asleep to it. I got up in the middle of it after he had already fallen asleep, and I took his phone and texted Madison to meet "Hayes" at Starbucks at 11am for a brunch. I made sure to delete the texts from his phone, so he wouldn't find out my plan. She was going to meet the other woman.

The next morning I woke up at 8:30am, when Hayes was still asleep. I showered and went downstairs to get some cereal. His mom was still home and asked what I was doing up so early. I told her I was going to hang out with Michelle, a girl who used to live down the street from me in North Carolina. She said "Have a great day, Katy. I'm so glad to have you back here in North Carolina!" I replied "It's fantastic to be back. Bye Mrs. Grier."

After finishing my cereal and watching some TV, I went back upstairs to change out of my robe and into a lavender summer dress and white flats, which Hayes bought for me for my birthday last month. I put on my regular makeup, grabbed my purse, and was walking out the door when Hayes was walking down the stairs, "What are you doing up and about so early? Its 10:30. Come back to bed and cuddle, babe." "Aw, Hayes, I want to but I'm meeting up with Michelle down at Starbucks in a half hour. I should be back before noon. We can have a lazy day if you'd like. Oops, I forgot something upstairs. One second, sweetie." I had left his phone upstairs. I needed to take it with me so my plan wouldn't get ruined. I gave him a kiss and hug goodbye before rushing out the door, so I wouldn't be late.

I was running a little late and I had just missed the bus. I texted Madison I would be a little late and of course got the snobby response of "Nothing new." How could Hayes have been dating her? She's spoiled rotten, and he must be completely blind because she was hitting on Cameron too. They made out for God's sake. She's done so much with some of the MAGCON boys and he doesn't even realize it.
