Chapter Seven

Nicole has been trying desperately to find some type of job, but the search has been unsuccessful. The only way to get child support from Jackson would be to get the divorce and the court would make him pay to help support his children. Nicole waited to hear from the court with a date for the divorce trial.

Finally, Nicole received a paper from the court in the mail and the date was set for December 6th 2005. It was only the beginning of November. Nicole still had over a month to wait for the trial. Things started to turn for the better for Nicole and the girls. Nicole was able to receive some temporary help with her rent for her home through public assistance. Nicole was also eligible to receive some food assistance. But, Nicole still did not have any money to pay her bills. Nicole’s parents’ were helping her with everything that she and the girls needed. Nicole did not even want to think about what she would have done without her parents being there to help her and the girls through this emotional and trying time in her life.

As time went on, Nicole started figuring out what happened for Jackson to end up leaving her. Jackson recently moved in with a girl named Carla, that he has known the whole time he has worked at the furniture rental company. Carla ended up working at a bank that was located right across from Jackson’s job, which he went to everyday for deposits from the furniture rental company. So, Carla has been the reason Jackson left and now she is his public girlfriend.

Jackson and his girlfriend Carla bought a new car and they were going to sell her old car. But, they decided that maybe they would give it to Nicole since she desperately needed a car. But, Jackson kept putting it off, by saying that he needed to fix stuff on car first, before he could give it to Nicole.

Finally it was December 6th 2005, and Nicole and her father went to the court hearing. Nicole was awarded full custody of her little girls. Nicole was asked if she wanted Jackson to have visitation rights, and Nicole said, “Yes, I want the girls to be able see their Dad and other family members.” Jackson received visitation rights on every other weekend. Jackson was ordered to start paying child support starting that weekend of $135.00 dollars every week.

Nicole told the judge about the car that Jackson said he would give her but still hasn't. The judge said, "Why haven't you given her the car?"

"I have to fix stuff on it first.” answered Jackson.

"Ok, Nicole do you want him to fix it or do you have someone else that can fix what’s wrong with It.” asked the judge.

"I can fix it.” answered Nicole’s father.

"Ok, would you rather recieve the car now and have your dad fix it?" asked the judge.

"Yes, I would." answered Nicole.

"Ok, Jackson you have to get the car into Nicole's possession by this weekend." said the judge.

Nicole was so incredibly happy that she was awarded the car and that she would be receiving it by that weekend. Now Nicole's parents won't have to take her and the girls everywhere anymore. After they get it fixed that is. After Nicole got the car her dad looked it over and the only thing that he could find that was wrong with it, that needed fixed right away was the exhaust. The exhaust had a little hole in it. Nicole took it to get it fixed and it only cost ten bucks and then it was fixed! So now she has a car!

A couple of months later, it was time to file their income taxes. The judge stated that they had to file the taxes together for that year, since they had been married the whole year. Jackson had to give her half of the income tax return. A couple days after they had filed their taxes, Nicole and the girls were going to Wal-Mart to get groceries. Jackson showed up there at Wal-Mart and was spying on Nicole. Then he followed them home. As Jackson got out of his truck he said, "I want to come back. Will you let me come back?"

"No, I don't want you to come back. You had your chance! You blew it!" answered Nicole.

"Why not, I will go get all of my stuff and come home right now!"

"No, if you come back then everything will go back to the way it was before. I'm not putting up with it anymore. Besides at any moment you could just walk out again and I'm not going to get my heart broke again!" said Nicole.

"Well, I have been thinking about it and I will come back right now if you want me to. I would feel bad about Carla giving you that car and her not getting anything out of it. So, I was even thinking that we could give her your half of the income tax return money and then we could pay off my truck with my half of the money."

"I don't hardly think so. That half is mine, and you are not doing anything with it. And, No, I don't want you to come back." said Nicole as she walked inside with an arm load of groceries.

Jackson got into his truck and left, peeling out of the driveway like a crazy, wild maniac.

The next weekend Jackson came down to Nicole's house and he brought her half of the income tax money refund for her. He visited with the girls for a few minutes, and then he left.

So, that just proved to Nicole that Jackson was never really wanting to come back. He just wanted her half of money. He did not want to give it to her so he probably thought that if he came back and they paid Carla for Nicole's car. He would leave again and go back to Carla and then he would have it all! Who knows what Jackson was really up to, no one will ever really know what goes on inside his head. Nicole has wised up and is not going to let Jackson manipulate her ever again!
