Since whales and a lot of other see life are smarter than cats, if you put a cat in water while it's prepared with scuba gear for long periods of time will it become smart like a whale? Or will it thrash around enough to knock it's scuba gear off and drown? Will it catch a fish and attempt to eat it?

What if life was just a video game like in the one book by James Dashner with the 'sleep' and you're in the game. Maybe we were just in the game for so long that we forgot about our real life from before the game became our reality. What if we aren't even... Us?

What if our conscious is just the voice of a higher being? What if the being is some sort of god or alien? Maybe it's a being that has no form like the 'Dark One' in my Archangel book?
