Cauter and I took a seat up under the tent that Cauter's Beta set up and watched as our packs intermingled. Marc and Tony stood hand in hand next to Dex, Cauter's Beta, all of us watching over the pack.
"Omega's are on their way, with ice and band-aids," Cauter whispers slouching in his seat. I could see bruises already forming on his chest from the fight and I could only imagine what I looked like after that beating. I touched my neck gently and winced, there was going to be a bruise there.
Two Omega's came walking towards us and my head snapped up as his scent hit me. It was the one on the right, the one approaching me with a bag of ice and wraps over his shoulder. He was tall, dark hair and the clearest blue eyes that I have ever seen. He wouldn't look up and there were fresh bruises on his jaw and cheek. The way that he was moving told me there were many other bruises unseen by my eyes.
"Do you care if the Omega's help?" Cauter asked as the Omega raised an ice pack from the bowl that he was carrying.
"N-no not at all," I said looking over at Cauter. He nodded to his Omega's and they both set to work. I watched mine as carefully as I could manage without making it awkward as he set the ice pack to my eye.
I took the ice pack from his hand as he began to work on wrapping my busted hands and bruised up ribs. His hands were gentle and nimble but they were rough from the life of an Omega. I stopped his hands with one hand and reached for his chin with the other.
The second my skin touched his I knew. That spark, that feeling of flying, that electricity. It erupted over my skin and I almost gasped at the feeling. I don't know if he felt it, don't know if he knew what it meant if he did feel it.
"Look at me," I said gently. He slowly moved his eyes up to my eyes and I saw the pure terror in them as he waited for the strike that never came. I could see a cut on his cheek from a beating and another on his cheek.
I let go of his chin and he looked back down before backing up. I looked back at Cauter, "What's his name?"
"Alexander Marcos," Cauter said, "Omega by status no chance to work up here. Why?"
"He's mine."
"Seriously?"
"Don't question me Cauter, I really don't wanna get back in the pit." Cauter chuckled but shook his head putting his hands up in mock surrender.
"I don't want to get in the pit with you again either- like ever." I chuckled and then winced in pain. "Okay our wounds are bound, our packs have mingled, mates have been found, I suggest we call an end to this."
"I agree." Cauter and I shook hands and rose to our feet. Just the two of us standing was enough to silence the crowd before us.
Marc stepped forward and took the lead on gathering my pack. The females that had found mates among the Western Pack were to stay and vice versa. The two packs now stood opposite each other once again leaving room in the middle for their Alpha's to walk by.
I looked over at Alexander, who immediately looked away. "Go gather your things Alexander, you are coming with me."
"Ma'am?" he asked his voice shaking.
"It's okay, just go gather your things." He nods silently and hurries away, a hand going to his ribcage as he does so. "Marc go load the bus and take a name of the new members, we leave in fifteen."
"Yes Ma'am," Marc said. Marc guided everyone towards where our bus was parked out front and I waited with Cauter.
"Dex go take the new members name, everyone else can be dismissed," Cauter called. Dex took the lead as Marc did for me. The pack dispersed and it was just Cauter and I again.
"I've missed you, and James," Cauter said looking over at me. "You two were a forced to be reckoned with back in the day."
"Were?" I scoffed a little. "I think i still kicked your ass today."
He laughed but nodded anyway. "That you did." Alexander came out of the pack house one measly bag over his shoulder. "He's a handful."
"You said the same thing about me when James picked me." He shrugged but nodded either way. "I'll see you in a couple months, maybe without the visit to the pit this time."
"Yeah, i agree to that." We hugged good bye and I grabbed hold of Alexander as he got closer. "Drive safe Evie."
"Always." I gently guided Alexander away from Cauter and towards the car, reveling in the feeling that being near him gave me. I'd missed it, thought I'd never have it again, but I guess someone had a different idea.
"Everyone is on the bus ma'am," Marc said with a soft nod.
"Thank you Marc, let's get moving." Marc nodded and signaled to the bus driver to start the engine and climbed int he car with Tony. I pulled open the back door and looked over at Alexander. "After you."
He opened his mouth to respond then changed his mind and closed it again. He climbed into the car and slid across the back seat to the other side. I joined him and shut the door, keeping to my side.
Marc started driving as my door shut leading the pack towards home. I could only imagine what Alexander was thinking, well maybe more than I give myself credit for as I was once an Omega myself. I wasn't going to push him, not right now so I stayed to my side of the car, giving him the space he needed, but I could see his weary eyes closing.
"Marc," I whispered as I looked at Alexander drifting off to sleep. "Drive careful, our new friend is sleeping."
