• • •"Cinderella! Where's my breakfast! It's almost time for the train!" Rachel yelled after straightening her hair till it was straighter than a pin.
"Coming Rachel!"
The sweet yet strong voice with startling bright eyes walked into the room. She had her messenger bag slung over her shoulder, holding her book close to her chest. She had on a hooded maroon jacket, a faded grey T-shirt, light trousers and her black converse, completing the look. It wasn't the style at all. She liked books. Others did not. Usually, girls wore pretty dresses with flats and a stylish headband. Her friends Lucy and Susan wore dresses all the time, but she couldn't afford the outfits for normal attire. Of course, she would have to change into her uniform on the train.
She quickly made breakfast, eggs and poured freshly squeezed orange juice.
"Come on slowpoke! We must go!" Rachel said, rushing the girl out of the house.
"I'm coming! Don't worry!" She said, trying to avoid getting hit. There it was. Smack.
"Don't move any faster, Cinderella," The stepmother mocked, "You might end up just like your pathetic family, worthless."
The young teen was about to stick up for her family but the older woman beat her to it, silencing her.
She ran out of the house, face caked in deep red blood, and held back the hot tears that would eventually run down her face.
She ran to where the Pevensies lived, the only friends she had. While in Narnia she was courageous and kind. Ambition and determination flooding her vines. She couldn't seem to find that bravery against the Smiths. The stepmother's hits and the sister's mocking words.
As she reached her destination, she saw a boy walking out of the front door. Edmund.
She ran to the tall teen, as he turned and looked at her in surprise, for even though they would be walking to the station together, she was a bit early. Then he looked at her, cheeks moist from tears to her wide eyes. "El, what happened?"
Ella Woods then collapsed with exhaustion.
