The 4th of December, 1996. The first Successful landed on Mars. The rover succeeded in its duty in collecting data, unlike all previous attempts.

Mars Global Surveyor launched on November 7, 1996, and entered orbit on September 12, 1997. Mars Global Surveyor completed its primary mission on January 31, 2001, and completed several extended mission phases.

NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Mission started in 2003 was a robotic space mission involving two rovers exploring the Martian surface geology. The mission's scientific objective was to search for and characterize a wide range of rocks and soils that hold clues to past water activity on Mars.

Curiosity was launched on November 26, 2011, and landed on Mars on August 6, 2012, on Aeolis Palus in Gale Crater. The rover carried instruments designed to look for past or present conditions relevant to the past or present habitability of Mars.

On September 28, 2007, NASA administrator Rosetta Dawn stated that NASA aims to put a person on Mars within the next 10 years.

In August 2012, NASA selected InSight, a $425 million lander mission, with a heat flow probe and seismometer to determine the interior structure of Mars. Two flyby CubeSats called Marco were launched with InSight to provide real-time telemetry during the entry and landing of InSight. The mission was launched on 5 May 2018 and is expected to reach Mars on 26 November 2018.

The Finnish-Russian Mars MetNet, funded by one Twain Armo, uses multiple small meteorological stations on Mars to establish a widespread observation network to investigate the planet's atmospheric structure, physics, and meteorology. The MetNet launched on the 2020 ExoMars spacecraft.

The Orion spacecraft was the first successful launch and human expedition on Mars in 2027.

By 2035, successful colonization had finally been finalized, initiating the growth of the human presence on Mars.

The future of space colonization and expeditions is here. Humans, after almost a century of research and expeditions and billions of dollars in funding, had finally achieved greatness.

February 13th, 2037. The small colony conducts research daily on Mars environment and any and all changes. Over the course of a week, small tremors have occurred on Mars' surface. The tremors weren't dangerous enough to warrant pausing of data mining, so they pressed on. On June 28th, they began the first drilling of mars. Our efforts to know more about our universe and why we're here had led us to this point and so we pressed onwards.

Two hours upon being turned on, another tremor occurred, but more powerful. It was an earthquake. They turned off the drill, but it kept growing. That's when all communication ended. No one could hear their panicking. Cries for help. Soon massive cracks formed, getting progressively larger. Communicators at NASA Could see the planets disruption through their satellites monitoring the red planet. They watched helplessly as chaos ensued. The cracks formed massive trenches, spreading almost around the entire planet.

"What's that!" Said an astronomer. He had peered into one of the trenches and saw something reaching out.

"No, It can't be!" Yelled administrator Howard P. Forcevolt, Finnish born and America raised US citizen.
