 A/N: This is actually a part of chapter 5... I'm kinda stuck on what to write in it but felt bad in not letting you guys read anything new from me in like half a year. So... even though its not complete, I figured I'd give you at least something. So enjoy and I apologize for it being a short piece as I try to pull something out of the air and make it work. ^^;

--------------------------------------------

He stood in the shadows, watching as Virus spoke with Cry and looked out toward the vortexes. As they talked about them and then about the internet itself, Pewdie kept silent and felt oddly disconnected with himself. He couldn't move or speak on his own accord, he felt lightheaded as if on the verge of passing out but his body remained like a silent sentinel, just watching them. Waiting for a signal of some sort.

"...He could be standing right behind you..."

At those words, Pewdie glitched behind his best friend, watching him with haunting electric blue eyes. He saw how Cry went still at realizing the sudden presence behind him. "Wha-?!" The brunet spun around to see him and the split second when the American's eyes landed on the Swede's, Pewdie snatched at him by the collar of his green hoodie, hefting him up with ease with his new found strength. Though outwardly, the blonde didn't bat an eye at the strangled yelp of surprise that came from the slightly shorter male he had in his grasp. But within, Pewdie protested but his thoughts and consciousness felt murky at best. He huddled closer to himself, a light that shied away as the viral infection pressed against him, determined to keep its hold on him. It hurt to think, so all he did was watch through a haze.

-------------------------

Cry looked down at him in horror, taking in the unusual glowing eyes and the patches of electric blue circuitry that was only known to Virus. “No...” the brunet whispered in heartbreaking tone that made Pewdie flinch in shame inwardly. “Nonono...!” He shook his head frantically while looking at him, grabbing at the blonde's arm and rubbing at the patched pattern of circuitry as if hoping it would just smear and let him know it was all just some ploy Pewdie thought up to save them both.

But the circuitry remained on the skin.

“Pewds... I'm so sorry, I was too late...” Cry closed his eyes, pushing the image from his mind aside at seeing the thing of what his best friend became from him being far too slow.“He got to you first...” Pewdie stayed quiet, staring at him without so much as batting an eyelash at the harsh rubbing of his arm as though he didn't even acknowledge the feeling. Honestly, it unnerved Cry a lot, he was used to seeing his best friend be loud and expressive. Now, he was just deadly silent and expressionless.

'Don't think that, Cry...' Pewdie murmured to himself, even though he was well aware that Cry couldn't hear him. He struggled weakly against the infection, determined to aid his friend and free himself. The infection met his resistance with a punishing jolt of electricity, forcing him to stop for a minute to recover his waning strength. 'I ran into him looking for you. It's not your fault, I should've paid attention...' The blonde panted then growled softly in irritation at his haplessness; he lost a lot of energy from his initial infection and hadn't recovered fully to anything to help. All he could do was watch. For now.

“This here is Virus P3wdz.” Virus introduced, walking up to the pair with an amused smirk, “Such a lovely upgrade, isn't it P3wdz?”

The Viral YouTuber remained still and quiet, still keeping Cry up off the floor before he smiled. And it was the coldest smile the Swede would ever give to anyone and Pewdie hated it. It wasn't his smile, he knew his own smile. Kind and friendly and this one just felt completely off to him and he shuddered at the chill it gave and no doubt knew how much it must've scared Cry. “It's the very best upgrade.” P3wdz answered, “Come on bro, why not try it out? I promise you won't regret it.” 'Lying sons of barrels!' Pewdie growled, shifting sluggishly against the infection, new fire bursting through him at the sight he was seeing, 'Come on Cry, you know damn well I would never agree to this!'
