Natalya sat on her porch steps, the events from that day were still fresh in her mind. Her big brother, Ivan, got engaged, she almost hit a pedestrian that ran out in front of her car, and she just couldn't seem to shake the feeling that she was being followed. As the sky grew dark with passing time, the agonized blonde prepared to head inside. Before she could open the door, however, she was met with footsteps and a greeting from a voice she knew all too well. Slowly, Natalya turned around.

"Why are you here, Bianka? Why so late?" She questioned. Neither her voice nor her face showed any emotion. The smiling girl by the name of Bianka was quick to answer.

"Well," she started, " I heard what happened. I know how you're...close to your brother, and I wanted to see if you're okay."

Shocked and taken aback by the girl's unexpected comment, Natalya sighed and snapped back to reality.

"Do I look okay? Well, I've never truly been okay, but you get the point!"

Though Bianka's smile faltered, it quickly returned. Her bubbly personality never left her without a smile for very long. She really was sorry, however, and quickly apologized.

"It's okay. I just figured you'd know me better by now," Natalya forgave, opened her door, and started to go inside.

"Wait!" Bianka urgently cried out, "I have something else to say."

"Well, make it quick, it's cold out here."

For the first time Natalya had seen, her acquaintance lost her smile and put on a serious look.

"Well, um...you see, I really like you. Like-like you. A lot. I'm pretty sure you're not into girls, but I had to get this off my chest. I figured this is a time when you'd need a shoulder to cry on."

"You're wrong," she responded after a long pause. "I don't cry. I don't need anyone to cry with either. I'm not lonely nor desperate. I'm at a fairly content stand-still...with the exception of today, of course."

Bianka took a moment to weigh her options before she made an oddly confident response.

"No," she firmly stated. "You're the one that's lying. Lying to yourself. You want to cry right now. You want to break down in someone's arms and have them tell you that it's going to be okay. That they love you. Hell, you're lonely. You've been lonely. Trust me, I see it in your eyes."

"So?" The angered Belarussian snapped back.

"The eyes don't lie." With that, Bianka walked away. Even though she heard the door slam followed by a growl, she smiled once more, for she was denied all but one thing. Natalya never said she wasn't into girls.

Later that night, as she lied in bed, Bianka sent one last message before falling asleep.

'I'd appreciate an answer by the end of the week.'
