4. Uncle's Knowledge

I stepped inside and what did I see? Mess. Total mess. Some strange looking parts in different shapes were all over the room. Probably important for some machines and devices. I'm use to that view. Uncle Garth loves to work in a mess. That's why he's different and still really good in what he's doing.

- So you heard the news?
My uncle completely surprised me with the question. I wasn't even paying attention to the fact that he was near by, probably observing or at least looking at me all the time.
- The Summoner, that's what you mean, right?
- So you know.. That's why you came to visit me?
- I wanted to check if you know anything more than they say
My uncle didn't answer. He put away the device he was working on and moved to the other site of the room and started choosing some tools. I was patiently waiting for an answer, following his every move. Suddenly he said a thing I wouldn't expect from someone who loves Warriors so much and if could probably will become one of them.
- Let it go Leath
- ..What?
- Just let it go already sweetheart, that would be better
- Better? I can't believe it uncle Garth! You? You are telling me that I should stop following my biggest dream?
- Look, I know it upsets you..
- Yeah, you have no idea how much!
- ..but now, when The Summoner has been discovered..
- It could be anyone! It could be me!

Then he looked at me in the way he has never looked. His glance was really serious. He looked like he wanted to see the inside of my soul. I only gulped.
- Just let. It. Go.
- B-But why?! Why now?! Now when I have a chance to be..!
Then my uncle interrupted with the coldest sentence I've ever heard from him.
- It's no way it could be you

I stared at him speechless. I was angry and sad in the same time. It's no way it could be me, but why?! Does he really think I am so bad I can't be The Summoner?! I felt tears in my eyes. My sadness was slowly winning the battle with anger. I think uncle realized that and his expression and attitude changed immediately. He signed and said.
- You can't be The Summoner because they know who it is
- ..They know? ... How do they know! It says they want to search for them!
- Calm down girl, not everything is written on internet and half of these articles are lying
- Who's The Summoner then?
- I don't know - He started repairing his device again. - There are rumors it's some girl but they didn't tell anything else
- Some girl, so it could be me but I don't know about it yet?
- If it was you, they would probably contact you and the family first, I really doubt it could be you

I didn't say anything else. So many thoughts were jumping like crazy in my head. I was defeated along with my dream. If there's The Summoner, they will probably handle everything and complete the mission of killing all monsters. Warriors won't be needed anymore. And I will have to forget about becoming one of them. I would have to let it go.

I looked at uncle Garth again. He was busy working. I wanted to leave but decided to ask one more question.
- Why would they want to gather people if they know who exactly is The Summoner?
- To test The Summoner. They want to know how strong and good they will be comparing to other best chosen. If The Summoner will be good enough they will send them on that planet but the rest of people will be probably useless after that

I only nodded. I was standing there for a few more seconds and then decided to leave. My uncle looked at me as I was leaving.
- Leath - I stopped and looked at him. - ..Don't worry, will be alright, just take care, okay?
I nodded again and just closed the door behind me.
